I'm an intermediate woodworker/hobbyist with a small setup in the basement. My shop is about 30'x30' and despite meticulously using a shop-vac with my tools I had a serious issue with small to fine dust everytime I worked on a project. I recently reorganized all my tools! hand and power, onto multiple peg boards for accessibility which made it all the more necessary to minimize the dust. The install was a breeze! I opted to hang it from the ceiling joists. Have been using it for the past few weeks, using the timer option and so far there is no accumulation of dust anywhere. This product works far better than I'd hoped for, the noise is barely noticeable on low & medium. If you have hearing protection in then it's even difficult to hear it on high. The unit was in perfect working order out of the box, the included hardware is solid, the remote is a HUGE plus. It's also great knowing that I can easily find the 12x24 outer filter at home improvement stores making it easy to supplement the included exterior filter. All in all this has been the BEST addition to my workshop thus far, the cherry on top was the sale price I was able to take advantage of. Well worth the money, I don't think I'd have minded paying the full price based on how well it works. Thanks Jet & Rockler, no more dusty glasses or tools!!

I have only had this unit for a few weeks, but it works great. I planed some wood and had a lot of fines floating around the shop area and I was surprised how quickly it cleaned the air, on the low setting.
Mounting it on the ceiling requires an extra set of hands, not because of the weight ,just because it is awkward to lift overhead. Fan also does a good job of distributing the heat near the ceiling more even around the garage. Don't know why I never got a unit like this before. I'm hopeful it will reduce my former dust problems.

Only used this unit for approx. 4-5 hours so far, but has worked very well. Not too noisy on low setting, you do notice it when no machinery is running and you just want to filter the air. Does nice job of filtering fine dust! I already blew out dustfrom the outer filter w/ air compressor outside my shop - it really did collect that fine stuff that you don't want to inhale! Glad I purchase this unit!

Few things have made a more positive influence on my shop like this air filtration system. I have a mobile shop in my 24' x 24' x 10'h garage both cars go in every night, and the impact of this has been fabulous for 3 reasons
1)A dramatic reduction in the dust that settles back in and around the shop, and most importantly that tracked into the house.
2) Using this, some plastic "curtains" to block off a 15' x 15' area in the center of the shop I have effectively created a spray booth in my shop. As an example, I sprayed oil based polyurethane in my shop this weekend when it was 45 outside. I used a sacrificial cheap house filter over the outer filter to catch sticky overspray a problem with poly and the results were spectacular and nothing is sticky.
3) The unit being located on the ceiling does a great job of keeping the air circulating making my "greenhouse style" heater work significantly better.
Oh, and I have also found that there are several brands of sub $5.00 12" x 24" x 1" furnace filters that work very well as a replacement for or supplement to the outer filter. This makes the unit very cheap to operate.
Buy one, you will be glad.

1.Easy ceiling mounting-takes two people because of size.
2.Quiet running-hardly noticeable addition to general noise level in shop.
3.Good job at reducing the fine dusts in the air that can ruin a fresh coat of sealer.

This product works very well. It does what it is supposed to do and was quieter than I expected. My only complaint is the cost of shipping. After I bought this I discovered that it was the same price if you buy it directly from Jet shipping would have been free.

This is really worth the money... I've had it for a while and it made an immediate difference for the better. I just came up from some heavy sanding and this thing just sucked up the dust like that.

Makes an immediate and sudden difference as soon as you turn it on. Expensive, but worth it not to be breathing in all the dust and to have your shop covered in dust.

I just bough the JET AFS-1000B filter and can’t believe the difference of the filtered air in my shop. The system collects an incredible amount of dust particles from the air. Now I won’t work in the shop without having the unit running and continue running one hour after I finish. Because of the amount of dust the unit is filtering, I am considering purchasing a permanent outer filter that can be washed and reused. I am very happy with the system.

I gave excellent review for the filtration system itself but just very good for the washable filter. For one thing, the price for one filter is a little bit much. The filters were shipped with some clamps and the clamps banged around on top of filters and bent and tore them. Hopefully in the future, filters will be shipped by themselves. We called Rockler and they sent us replacement filters right away. I recommend buying from Rockler and for sure recommend the Jet Air Filtration System for every wood shop.

Knocks the dust levels way down in my shop. I attached an adjustable electrostatic 1 micron filter to the end with the clips and even while sanding there's no more dust cloud hanging in the air. Not much louder than a window A/C unit; very nice!

Seems to be well built, quite and funtional. Controls are great and unit is not excessively noisy. This is second one I've installed, one for a friend and one in my shop. Easy to intall, but don't try it alone! I expect it to greatly improve the air quality in the shop.

I've used the AFS-1000B for almost a year. I highly recommend getting an air filtration system, especially when sanding. I used the downdraft table kit I bought here on Rockler, but it still allows a lot of fine dust into the air. The AFS-1000B does a great job of cleaning these remaining particles out of the air. It makes it possible to apply finish that much sooner. And it dramatically reduces the amount of dust laying on your lumber stock and other projects on hold. Judging by what gets trapped in the filters, it must be doing a very good job. However the filter does fill up fast. I use the optional washable filter, and have to clean it about every 40 hours of use. Without it I would have had to buy a new filter every week (I work in my woodshop full-time).

I agree with all the other reviews, the unit makes a noticeable difference almost immediately. After just a few hour, the air seems to be significant improved and much easier to breath. The only thing pulling the rating down to a very good is I had two minor problems. The strapping around the exterior of the box was over tightened and bent one corner of the long side of the unit. Also had an issue with the inner filter, one side of the foam tape was twisted which interfered with sliding the filter in place. Problems aside this is a good buy and should be something considered early in your shop design and should be moved up to the top of your wish list.

This unit was heavier and more awkward to handle than I thought. I put four eye bolts in my shop ceiling and used a simple rope system to lift it up and clipped it there with 4 small carabiners.
One problem I had was the unit was not shipped with the remote control nor the eyebolts to hang it with. I wrote Rockler and after a phone call for the serial number I got a package in the mail a few days later with a remote, nuts, washers and two eyebolts. I went to my local hardware store and bought two more eyebolts. The ones from Jet are 6mm or 1/4" fine thread. I could not find this size so i forced in the course thread. Easy to do in the aluminum nutsert on the unit. Now I have a filter in my shop and I love it. I can already tell how much cleaner the air is. Nice machine JET! If you don't have an air filter you need to get this one! You will not be disappointed!

The filter unit seems to do a very good job of clearing the air. It is a bit noisy but not nearly as loud a the central dust collection system or any other power tool. The noise is only noticeable when using hand tools it's loud enough to make listening to music a problem. The remote is a must. Mine broke when it fell from a table to the wood floor. I was surprised that a this minor fall did it in. The batteries on the new one failed after 3 weeks.
I know this sound like a negative review but it is a very good unit overall. I would buy one again.

The air filtration unit works well, and has proven to be a great additon to my shop. However, the unit had been damaged in shipment, and the squirel cage fan had to be "tweeked" to lessen fiberation. I considered sending the unit back, but decided to avoid he hastle and live with it.
