I used a pair of these brackets on a hinged-on-one-side, fold down table in the grandchildren's "Tree-less" tree-house a clubhouse on stilts. They work great! Even the seven year old can open and fold the legs without a problem. The leg-brackets work great in this light-duty environment.

I used these on two small folding utility tables for occasional use, and they were perfect for the task. I think some of the negative reviews of this result from the hardware being used on too large of a table surface, or for too heavy an application. The fit and operation of the units I received was top notch. Very satisfied, I would use them again anytime.

Works great for wall mounted work table. Easy to fold and legs lock into position easily. Not for fine furniture, but then again who builds fine furniture with folding legs?

I use this product all the time in my line of specialty items (craft stands) and find it to be very well made and functionally reliable. The secret to using this hinge effectively is to make sure that the leg seats snuggly to the top when opened. This product is perfect for my application and I hope Rockler will continue to carry it.

For what you pay for them they aren't that bad. I used them on a fold down bench top (2'x4'; 2 layers of 3/4 ply) and so far so good. Yes, they are a bit wobbly but once the weight of the top is on the legs, I have no problem.

These brackets are poorly made and are sloppy in the locked position. The application was to apply 36" legs to a 64"x40" table. The legs were wobbly. Project had to be scrapped, started from scratch and completed using a better product.

They need to be built stronger, need a better mechanism. Too much lateral movement when the legs are down.

I bought these leg brackets from another supplier and found them to be as in the case of your other reviewers absolutely useless mechanically. However I then oredred your card table leg bracket from Rockler which has been perfect for my use a fold away bridge table. In fact they are the only hinges that I have found anywhere which can be used for a bridge table.

Poorly machined, loose in the locked position, table was *very* wobbly. These things are useless.

The trick here is to get the top of the legs to press firmly against the table top - that eliminates the wobbling many complain about. Though I tried to do this with clamps while screwing in the legs, I was not successful, but I came up with a simple fix. I glued a piece of 80 grit sandpaper to the top of my legs and now they lock in really tight. No wobbling at all. I am using 1.5" square poplar legs to hold up a 1.25" thick 2' x 4' butcher block fold out bench extension and it is working really well. I might have gone with other hardware, but I needed the lower profile of these for my project. I'm satisfied.

Maybe you would like to call this a third person review. I am Manager of the Technical Support at Rockler. Our department gets involved with any quality issues with our products.
We have sold thousands of these leg brackets with almost no reports of problems.
That being said, we are concerned with even one or two problems where our products don't perform up to our customer's expectations.
We would like to understand why the product has failed for these two reviewers. I invite any one that has used this product to e-mail me directly awolford@rockler.com with a description of their project.
Descriptions of projects that have succeeded as well as any disappointments will help us understand any limitations of this hardware that we may not currently know.

Accomplishes task. The larger table I built is very wobbly as the clearances that they have to allow so that the sliding lock mechanism can work give a lot of travel, in both directions. I screwed on some fence brackets and slipped tensioners between the legs lower down, fixed it. Now I just have to pop out the tensioners, fold the legs and voila! storable large table.

Mechanism did not lock in up position very well. Had to apply a lot of "Never Seize" and work the mechanism a lot to get it to lock in the up position. These legs are a bit wobbly and don't work very well.

Engineering is poor and product is flimsy. Legs were wobbly so I bridged two legs together to stablize then it was difficult to work the locking mechanism. These brackets would work good with table legs less than 12" for light duty only.

If you want a wobbly table, these are just the thing! They are poorly made, do not solidly lock in the open position. They are worthless!

We tried several time to tighten up the bracket but to no success. We got the legs somewhat better, but the pivot point is too loose. The legs just rock and roll. We tried shimming the tops of the legs to tighten. This resulted in tight but crooked legs!

These are simply too loose and wobbly to use on any sort of a sizable project, in my case a utility desk. No amount of shimming or workaround seems to do the trick.

I was recently tasked to make a fold down changing station for a you handicap person at our school district. The legs were to be recessed in and after installing them I notice they had the latch thumb catch on the same side. This meant I had to move one father out from the edge so you could get your finger on the thumb catch. I feel if you sell them as a pair you should have a left and a right. I did noticed a lateral movement. I guess it could be built a little more stout.

I used these to build a small 15" x 20" folding table. The hinge tolerance when open was so loose that the wobble caused the table to be useless. I gave up on the project.

These are too wobbly for a table. I use two of them to prop up a drop-down leaf, and the hinges provide the only stability. I say some stability, because the legs still wobble. Totally unsuitable for a four-legged table.

I was hoping to replace some old card table legs (metal) with wood legs using this product but it was a complete failure. My large table (really 1/2 of a ping pong table I use for workspace) rocked more than ever after putting on the supports. The supports are supposed to lock in the open position but wobbled horribly. Also, the length of the legs I fabricated (37") prevented the legs from locking in the closed position. This is not a good product for supporting a table of any size in my opinion.
