I used a 9/16 forstner bit to drill template holes in a piece of 1/8" masonite. Drills clean holes. Will not work very well without using a template.

I used this product to help me replicate a game that we used to play at my grandfather's house Chinese Pinball when we were kids. It works perfect with 1/2" marbles, or in this case 1/2" stainless steel ball bearings.
I had to create a template to hold the bit as I "plunged" down at the marble locations. The size of this hole is actually best if you can drill it at 17/32", however, I only had a 9/16" so I went with that. Then I cleaned out the hole by doing it one more time without the template. You have to keep clearing it out, but it's really no different than working with a shelf pin bit.

Drills very good holes but does clog quickly and must be cleaned out often. My pocket screwdriver does fine most of the time-if I clean it every use.

I found that the bit did a good job making marble depressions. What was not so clear in the description is that it is constructed to be used with a template. So, if you are creating a game that has no template, one ends up with a difficult issue of alignment. I found that removing the template following collar and spring made use much easier.

Good product. Kinda hard to line up using a hand drill, would be awsome if using a drill press.

Performs as advertised - makes great marble depressions.
What you need to know:
- You'll need a template or you'll have difficulty lining up where you want the depression to appear. I marked out the pattern I wanted on a 18"x18" piece of paper, and then adhered the paper to a similarly sized piece of plexiglass. Used a 9/16" spade bit in a drill press to punch the holes, though a forstner bit would probably have been cleaner. Using a template and a hand drill, I created over 100 impressions in less than 5 minutes.
- The bit will clog after 2 to 3 holes. Easily cleared by hand by compressing the collar, then letting it go, ejecting the sawdust.

Could be better if a cross blade was used. The paddle bit is a bit hard to make smooth on hard wood.

This drill bit creates clean holes but it clogs after 2 or so holes.

An ok bit. It clogs quickly. Also I've found that if used in a drill press be careful with the speed of your press and overheating of the bit. You can burn the wood very quickly.

After the first hole I took it apart to see why the hole was so bad. The spades were only rough ground and there was no relief at all on the blades. Using a slip stone I was able to smooth the rough edges, correct the relief angle and put some kind of edge on it. Seems to be made of soft steel so resharpening will no doubt be neccessary after every 100 holes or so. Not the quality I would expect.

Great product out of the box but dulls quickly and after 6 "aggravation" boards, the collar that sits inside the template wore off, essentially making the bit useless. Going to have to find a different way to finish the board for tomorrow.

The product produces perfect holes for the use of the games I am making, the only issue I have with the bit is that it completely clogs up after 2 or 3 holes and is difficult to line up.
