COMPARE PERFORMANCE & PRICE WITH ANY FENCE!
Being able to cut materials safely and precisely on your table saw is essential for fast and accurate Woodworking. Unless saw fences are well designed they make cutting a chore instead of pleasure, resulting in poor quality and inaccurate cuts.

Most Saw Fence Systems...

  • Do not lock parallel to saw blade
  • Do not have accurate measuring scales
  • Have Fence Bars that are too short
  • Do not have adequate width ripping capacity
  • Require frequent re-alignment
  • Lack safety devices
  • Are unable to be finely adjusted

The Vega Saw Fence Systems solve all of these problems (and more!) to assure Accurate and reliable cuts combined with smooth, precise motion.

UTILITY MODEL 26 or 50 Designed for contractors saws, smaller cabinet saws, and 10" saws that don't receive extremely heavy use, the Utility Model Fence is simply a small version of the very successful Professional Model. With all the great features of the Pro Model (fast installation, super precision, micro adjustments and more), the Utility Fence will upgrade your saw to a very precise cutting machine at a very reasonable price.

The Utility Model Vega Saw Fence System is available with 26'' or 50'' rip capacity to the right of the blade and 8'' to the left.

I  purchased the utility 26 fence for my older Craftsman 10 table saw. I installed it the next day which took about one hour, I read the instructions very carefully, took my time and had no problems. Everything fit properly with the exception of the tape which is off about 3/4 of a inch and i will peel it off and buy a new one. This fence moves very smooth on the rails, is accurate and will be very good to use I would not hesitate to recommend it.

I was a little cautious about the Vega fence system but I have since put any fears to rest. I have an old Delta contractor saw that only has a 22.25" table not the standard 27" and that was my concern. I was able to modify the fence to fit my table without any trouble. So any of you out there with this same dilema - have no fear this fence is for you. I am overjoyed at the performance of the fence and have since built a melamine table extension to match the 52" rails. Contrary to other comments about the instructions - I had no problems with them. If you read them first, then you shouldn't have an issue. Also, the tape was easily repositioned with the use of a heat gun and a razor. I heated the 52" end in case I encountered an issue and used a razor to catch the edge and carefully lifted the tape as I heated it. The glue globbed a bit but with the heat it was easy to melt it again when I repositioned the tape. BTW, don't forget to clean the rail with mineral spirits prior to the procedure.
With that said, I must agree with the comments regarding craftsmanship. There is overspray and edges need to be filed to prevent accidental injury. The drilled holes were never cleaned and there are metal shavings present. It is profoundly evident that production rather than quality control was given priority. All in all, I would buy this product again and more importantly, I would recommend it to my friends. Hope this helps. Be Safe!

Like most of the guys here I added this to an old Craftsman contractor saw. Very nice upgrade. Easily installed and adjusted. Nice product. The only thing in the instructions that I found was you can install the back rail upside down which they failed to mention and then the fence sits too high up. When discovered and corrected it fit great. I think I am going to be very happy with my purchase. These premium fences are pretty pricey but I guess its what the market will bear. I think this fence was about as much as I originally gave for the saw when new. I suppose time and inflation have a factor in that.

Purchased the 26 Utility yesterday for my 1970s Craftsman 10" saw. The stock fence was almost impossible to lock down parallel to the blade. The Vega 26 locks down parallel every time. My mediocre 10" saw is now consistently accurate and a pleasure to use. The front rail was a perfect fit and the back rail required just one 5/16" hole to be drilled in the apron of the tabletop. The micro adjust is going to be a real pleasure to use. With the accuracy built into this product, you would think that Vega would take more pride in their product and pay a little more attention to the cleanliness of their components. The front and rear brackets were extremely dirty/oily. The front rail bracket is an aluminum extrusion with holes punched for bolts...this part obviously comes from the lowest bidder. It has rough edges throughout. The assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. All this being said, it is still a great performing product.

Installed it on a 70s vintage 10" Craftsman in less than an hour. Great design and the numbers are right on from zero to 26 inches.

Installed the 26 on my 20 some yr old 10 inch Craftsman within an hour despite the poor documentation, but it was fairly intuitive, and there were no holes to drill. I find it simply amazing! Accuracy is dead on and the micro adjustment is the best. It took a while to break my habit of measuring both ends of the fence to see if was really true...which was mandatory with the old one. My wife cannot grasp my elation over this piece but I fought the old one so much that I grin every time I use it.

Installed the Vega 26 inch fence on my 90's craftman saw in about 35 minutes. No holes to drill and all parts fit up like a T . All you need to do is follow the instructions. Was easy to line up fence. Now I can rip all types of material accurate. I was pleasanty suprised at how well the fine adjustment mechanism worked on the fence.

I installed the Vega 50 inch fence on a Central Machinery 3 hp heavy duty contractor's saw. The holes lined up, all the parts were in the package, and installation was easy. I didn't find the instructions a problem - assembly was pretty intuitive. Despite the rough appearance of some of the castings the end product was smooth and accurate. I was able to reposition the adhesive ruler without difficulty. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the fine adjustment mechanism on this fence worked. As suggested in the instructions I added a melamine extension to the right of the table saw table. Because the fence attaches to the saw with only 2 bolts, the cantilevered end of the fifty inch fence with the weight of the melamine tended to tip the saw to the right. Despite this, the alignment of the fence and the quality of the rips remained rock solid. I will add a couple of legs to the extension for extra support before ripping large pieces of plywood.
I spent last weekend ripping a lot of wood on a Powermatic cabinet saw with fitted with a Beisemeyer fence. I'm satisfied that I could get comparable results with the Vega fence on my contractor saw for a fraction of the price.

It took me about 35 minutes to install the 26 model on my 1960's vintage 10 inch Craftman saw. The front bar fit perfectly but one hole had to be drilled for the back bar. I found the instructions to be concise and more than adequate. Initial alignment and adjustment was a snap and further adjustments should not be required. The item arrived at my door only 3 days after I ordered it online from Rockler. I believe it's a great fence for the money.

My dad and I purchased the Ultra 50 Vega utility fence today and I wanted to add my initial thoughts in light of all of the previous reviews. Most reviewers rate this fence highly, but uniformly condemn the documentation, and most condemn what is perceived to be sloppy quality of the craftsmanship (yet all seem to agree that the fence ultimately works great).

My experience was that the documentation WAS pretty bad; yet somehow we were able to have the thing installed and dialed in within 30 minutes. Part of this had to do with the fact the holes seemed to line up perfectly on our later model Craftsman 10 inch professional saw. So while the four page instruction manual was pretty poor, it didn't seem to stop us from getting this puppy together without screw ups. My feeling that most people should be able to get this thing on extremely quickly UNLESS you have to drill holes in the rails to accommodate your saw. And even then it should be too bad as long as you have the right drill bet and drill set-up...

In terms of the parts quality; it's true that some of the various nuts, bolts, and attachments were pretty dusty and "machine" dirty. But once it was together it looked pretty slick.

In terms of using the saw itself; lord it is like night and day from what we had. I can't really compare it to other premium fences, because I haven't used them, but compared to the stock fence, this thing is exceptionally good. All of a sudden, cutting was just like cutting butter with a warm knife. it's just amazing.

One small annoying detail is that the measuring tape on the front rail isn't even close to being "Zeroed Out" with the blade. Basically we decided to center it at one inch, and plan on just always adding one inch mentally to my cut. The manual suggests removing the tape and repositioning it, but it really can't be done without destroying it as near as I can tell.

We ended up buying it because it was literally the only premium fence that we could pick up and take home today and not have to order it (Rockler had several in stock in the Seattle store where we live). We thought about getting the Beisemeyer from Sears, because it was specifically designed to hook up to our saw, but it was more than a 100 bucks more, and we'd have to wait 10 days.

I installed the 26" fence on my 30+ year old Craftsman 10" table saw without any extraordinary difficulty. I did have to swap a mispackaged front bracket for the correct one but the local store had another one in stock and made the swap. The install required no new holes for the fence. I did have to move the power switch as the original position places it behind the bar. I put mine on the left front using the original switch and drilling one additional hole to provide a secure mount. Without the time it took for the swap, half a day, the store is 30 miles away, it took me about 35 - 40 minutes to do the complete install and make some test cuts. Once installed and aligned, easy if you follow the instructions, the fence works very well. The micro adjuster is a big plus, it saved me considerable time in setting up the cuts for some tenons. The fence slides easily and locks easily. Two cautions: 1: if you are using a feather board do not compress it too much as the fence can slide if you push hard enough. 2: Some of the newer saw blades are thinner than the standard 1/8 inch so if you set the fence up with a standard blade you need to use the micro adjuster to compensate. The Rockler universal fence clamp is large enough to use on this fence if you want to clamp a board to the saw side of the fence. I would recommend this fence to anyone who is looking for something better than the stock fences that are out there on the contractor size saws.

After many years of woodworking I have finally found a fence that gives me a accurate cut from stem to stern. My old Craftsman 10 inch table saw now works like a new piece of equipment in my shop.

I have an old Craftsman 10” table saw that like all Craftsman suffer of poor fence alignment. This force to double measure front and back of table to be sure cut will be parallel. In addition to time consuming this all time procedure is frustrating due it fails once in a while putting cut out of exactness. After reading all comment here and other forums I considered getting my Vega fence for a change. My fence is the 26” system. I have to say that in my case the instructions were straight thru once I read them 2 times before start. The unit came badly packed so far that in my box the “head micro adjust cam knob” came broken, this is something I have to solve with. Also have to say that its true all said about craftsmanship. Make no sense how this can happens, almost 50 % of parts needs to be prepared to deal with due to poor terminations. After solving all above the reality is 180 degrees different. The exactness of this fence is super. Since the first test cut I start to get impress how it performs. The movement of the fence from one side to the other its rock solid. It did now any deviation from alignment on every move and it was right on the money every time it’s moved for another cut. I do not notice any looseness once the cam is set in place. The so smooth movement of the whole fence over the table show that this fence design was well done and thinking in woodworker like us having a craftsman table saw. In my case I did not have to drill any hole in the table saw except the 2 holes for the real hold down. This fence has placed my table saw back on business since the only handicap it had was the fence system. If you have troubles with your fence due to poor alignment and instability with every new move to cut, seriously consider this Vega system.

For what it is, this fence is an incredible improvement over the old 3/4" wide fence my saw had. As for documentation, everyone is right - it is very poor. I got more from the drawings than from the words. On my Delta XL-10 (VERY old) I only had to drill one hole in front, and one in back (plus enlarge two existing holes). I did have to drill a new hole for the fence's underside "bumper", as my XL-10 wasn't long/wide enough for where the bumper originally was.
Once installed, locked on, and the rail adjusted for a perfect measurement, it works like a dream.
I could have bought a Biesemeyer fence if I was made of money. Instead I got the Vega Utility 26" and I am glad I did - I don't think the Biesemeyer would have given any better performance and I saved a lot of money.

I agree with most of the comments from the other reviewers. The Vegas fence system is rock solid and accurate. It's easy to lock in and the micro-adjustment feature is a great help. But the product lacks polish. A few things that need improvement: Better installation instructions, clean parts, and better finish on some of the parts.
I installed the Utility 26 Model on my Craftsman Portable Table Saw. The instructions didn't help much and left out significant details. But after awhile I was able to figure it out. Had to drill a few holes. Now that the new fence is installed, cutting on my saw is like night and day from before.
The Fence System is definitely superior to most fence systems included with table saws. But installing the Fence system is not for the faint of heart.

I installed the 26 model in about half an hour and now have a precision fence that rivals any brand on my 50's Craftsman 10 inch saw. Easy to install, had to drill only one hole, and easy to use. Once it is aligned you never have to align it again. I highly recommend this fence to make an old or cheap saw into a precision saw.

Agree with other reviewers: excellent product, clever design, but poor documentation. I installed it in about an hour on my old Craftsman table saw. Had to drill two holes on back of table, but no problems at all.
Anyone else have any examples, photos of jigs or improvements they added on?

Excellent product that has really updated my old craftsman 10" saw. I installed the 50" model after building a cabinet and right table extension. The fence is impressive in its smoothness and accuracy.
That being said, there are a few things to know if you are considering one...The mounting holes for the rail mounts lined up perfectly, however the supplied hardware was lacking. Replacement bolts were not included other than for the rail to the supplied mounts. Lag screws were included for mounting wood fence sides to the metal fence. The bolts holding the old fence to the saw would have worked, but they were rusty and I replaced them. Instead of using the lags, I went to the hardware store and bought bolts to use in the fence holes (after threading them).
The instructions were lacking, but if you have used your saw for any period of time the installation is self explanatory. This is not a purchase to take lightly, but if you're keeping your saw, this fence truly will improve and increase its capabilities.

I bought the 50" version Vega fence for my old Craftsman table saw. It installed easily and works well. I must say that while I really like this fence, the installation and set-up instructions are inadequate. Many good features are not documented. An example of this is that the fence is designed to accept a machined wooden top (as I have installed and is shown in the photo). They don't tell you that, or how to do it.
The general finishing of the individual parts leaves something to be desired. Aluminum parts are mill finish - meaning that they blacken everything that they touch. An anodized finish would have been nice. Some of the painted parts are not completely finished.
As if to point out the lack of attention to detail, the serial number is on one of the ends of the fence, on a part that has to be installed one way...when installed properly, which retains the fence top, the serial number is upside down!
All of that said, this is a really good fence system, and works well. I wish the Vega folks wanted to make it great. It could be.

I purchased the Utility 26 Saw Fence in late Dec 05. Last week I finally got around to installing this item. When I opened the box last December I was disappointed by what I perceived as poor machining and finishing of some of the individual parts. Glancing at the installation instructions reinforced my misgivings. The photos and the pamphlet are given superficial attention as to clarity and quality. I am a professional printer and graphic artist of more than 25 years.
Grudgingly, I returned to my pending problem, the Utility 26 Saw Fence installation, well rested and determined to make the best of it! Some of the machined parts were so dirty, my fingers were blackened. I reasoned out how the parts fit in relation to one another and filled in where the instructions were sadly lacking.

However, the end results are quite good and the Utility 26 Saw Fence sits proudly atop my Sears Craftsman Contractor style table saw. I installed sacrificial pine facing on the fence. And it works quite well.

I would urge the Vega Company to give the more thought to the initial presentation of their otherwise good product. A sterling example of a skilled presentation is anything you buy from Incra. I purchased the Incra Positioner LS and Wowed, but more on that later.

The manufacturer's instructions were about next to useless. They were a photocopy of a copy. The finish on most of the parts was substandard, rough, and incomplete in some areas. I am not sure for the price this was worth it. Note that this fence will not work well with the Jet 10" hybrid saw.

I can echo the sentiments of everyone else the instructions are at best both poorly written and the printing is of very poor quality. It is a real shame that in today’s electronic world a manufacturer can’t spend the time and effort to produce state of the art instructions to compliment their great product.
I installed the fence on a 15 year old Craftsmen saw and found that during the final alignment that the rear fence bar would not adjust low enough to allow the bottom rear of the fence bar to be within 1/16” of the table. The troubleshooting instructions suggest I remove material from the support button. Before I did that I removed the rear rail and realized the mounting holes were purposely drilled off center, but not mentioned in the instruction, and I apparently mounted the rail upside down limiting my adjustment options. One I reversed the rail everything aligned great.
Once installed and aligned I found this to be a great product and something I should have purchased years ago. Ripping white oak in now a pleasure with straight cuts, no burning and I no longer have to measure both the front and back of the blade to the fence before making the cut.

Like many others I researched before buying the U26 and went in knowing that there would most likely be problems with the finish of the unit and the directions would be almost impossible to follow. I wasn't surprised by what I received. The finish and the directions rated a 1 star (poor). See the attached photos of the finish. That said...

Installation was very easy on my older Craftsman 10" saw taking about 30-45 minutes. The only problem was that the tape had to be realigned/replaced. The holes matched up and all the parts were included. I did have to clean everything prior to installation but that was expected.

The difference between my Craftsman fence and the U26 is like night and day. Cuts are right on and the micro-adjust works beautifully. So far, I have not had to "scrap out" a single piece of stock due to a poor fence. To say that my hobby is more fun is an understatement.

Should I have returned the items with the bad finish? Most likely. Did I? No. Should you expect a better finish from a $300+ unit? Without a doubt. It doesn't appear that Vega is going to do anything to fix the problem since it's been going on for years. It should have a great finish, but, the flip is that it is also the best working fence for the money.

Bottom line is that I received what I expected and it works.

Let me start by saying... I'm a perfectionist, so scrutinous of anything sub par in quality. The actual functionality of this fence is about 4.5 stars, but it gets 3 stars due to poor quality on each of the finished "out of the box" pieces. That said, this fence so far does exactly what it is intended to do and does it well. Easy setup once installed and allows for a very straight line to be cut every time. Once installed, all the issues with quality are not as obvious either. My biggest issue is that this fence is made in America, but out of the box has the look of China or Taiwan... not home grown American quality fit & finish.
For instance, it was plainly obvious that the paint applied to the back square tubing rail, was shot right over rusty or dirty metal small bubbles in the entire paint job. And instead of some nice internal end caps for the round front rail, in comes only with cheesy red plastic caps. The "slide in" laminate piece on the top of the fence was cut 1/2" too short. Ever cut end needed a bit of filing to get rid of burs. Rust on the metal fence lock mechanism pieces. A lot of little things like this... fit and finish just doesn't show American pride and quality of work. They looked like they were made fast and sloppy for "quantity over quality"... "Snap-On vs. Harbor Freight".
Now if you pay no attention to this and just install per poorly written instructions, it would go pretty fast. I was 6 hours getting mine installed on a Craftsman table saw which it fits very nicely on, just because I wanted every piece to look and fit like it was professionally made and installed.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy this fence again... but it'd really be nice if at the same spendy price, this fence had the look, fit & finish of "Made in America" out of the box.

Received a well packaged fence. Rockler shipped very quickly after my internet order. Installation instructions were crude at best. Some of the machining was poorly done as I had to clean up some of the slots and remove sharp edges. Fence was a quick install on my 30 year old Sears contractor. Set up went fairly easy and it seems very sturdy. It believe it will be serviceable in the long run. I bought this fence to replace an old Incra with limited capacity. For the price this fence will do the job. If I start doing a lot more woodworking I would invest in a new Incra fence.
