I don't know what's up with some of the reviews on here! I've ordered several pieces of this in different thicknesses and it was always high quality. Yes, there are some of those football shaped patches on the surface, but I've always seen that in Baltic Birch ply. And the surface was always nice and flush, even with the repairs. Plus, the plies had no voids in them, even after I cut the pieces to the size I needed. I'll be honest, I don't think it would be good to use for staining or clear coating because of the repairs on the surface. However, if you're going to be building a project that will be painted over or if you need a nice solid substrate for some expensive veneer on a table top, this stuff is pretty much ideal since it's flat, stable, and extremely low on voids between the plies. I wouldn't be afraid at all to recommend this stuff for painting and veneering projects!

This is excellent quality plywood. Voids are few and far between and more often than not I have clear faces with small football shaped plugs on one side. Very easy to work around. It's hard to find locally so I stock up on the 24x30x1/2" sheets whenever rockler puts them on sale. I use it most often for jigs and control panels, and for those purposes it works perfectly.

Excellent plywood! I needed 1/4" baltic birch for the bottom of a chess/checkers set I was building. The plywood arrived from Rockler in record time, was packaged so well there was no damage, and the quality was superb. There were no voids that I could see along cut lines, no fillers or plugs. One side showed beautiful grain with a couple of small knots that really added character. The other side was nice with straight grain. I am more than satisfied with the plywood and Rockler in general.

Great product! Plan called for 1/4" baltic birch plywood. I wanted a little more 3 dimensional effect so I went with 3/8" baltic birch plywood. Finished great and an outstanding contrast against the oak background. Shipping was fast and arrived in perfect condition. Very satisfied with the purchase of the plywood and the plan.

Have been reading about Baltic Birch Plywood for a long time. When the deal at Rockler came up, I purchased some (1/2, 3/8, 1/4) to see what all the halabaloo was about. Very impressed with the quality and flatness of the pieces which arrived. Have ordered more for all the projects waiting in the wing.

Very disappointed with the packaging for the 3/4" x 24" x 30" Baltic Birch plywood I ordered. There were a couple points of damage to the external package which extended through to the 'good' face of the plywood inside. They were obviously caused by poor UPS handling but better packaging could have prevented it.
Editor's note: Our customer service at 800-376-7856 will be able to assist with replacement of damaged pieces for you Bob.

I make custom designed dollhouses and room boxes and I mix Baltic Birch and Gator Board in the construction of these displays. I can not find an outlet to purchase Baltic birch in Florida and only wish I could order larger sheet sizes from Rockler. Baltic Birch is free of voids and is extremely stable from any distortion. It remains perfectly flat. It also finishes extremely well.

I ordered 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4" baltic birch sheets. The 1/2" arrived nice and straight, but the thinner sizes were warped (crooked on edge). I called Rockler, and, as usual, they immediately made good on my purchase. Replacement 3/8" and 1/4" sheets just arrived, and they are perfectly straight. I'm happy. Thanks, Rockler. I really like doing business with you.

I purchased this item to be used for splines in gluing boards together, for that purpose the item worked fine. For anything else it is a rather poor quality of plywood with a lot of plugs on both faces that are not flush with the board. It would require a lot of work in order to use this piece for any kind of cabinet construction.

Sometimes it is good and sometimes not so good. When cut the edge might be ripped to the point that it cannot be repaired. Also, I have received one that was so warped so bad I could not use it. It is sort of a toss of the dice as to the quality.

Have ordered this 1/2" plywood twice from Rockler. First order of material was excellent quality. Second order was very disappointing. Three of the five pieces received has unrepaired split/gaps in the surface veneer, two pieces had internal voids, and one piece has large pencil scribble all over one side.
What was bought to be drawers for my kitchen cabinets has been used for bird houses and the material repurchased from a local supplier. Disappointed - yes, but I will continued to order from Rockler.
Editor's note: Ralph, our customer support will be able to replace the defective sheets for you.

The birch plywood is high quality and very competitively priced. My only complaint is that the 12"x30" pieces I ordered actually measured 11 3/4"x30". The pieces are to be used for doors on an existing 24"x60" cabinet. Two 11 3/4" wide pieces leave me with a 1/2" gap between the doors which will have to be eliminated with either filler strips or a cover strip. This is unanticipated additional work.

The plywood was of good to exellent quality, but did contain some voids. I was somewhat disappointed with this fact as I expected Baltic birch style plywood to be of execellent quality. Because of this and the obvious patch plugs, the plywood could not be finished, but rather had to be painted.

Copy says it "May include matched face plugs". Believe me, on the two pieces I bought it does! I can use what I bought but I was surprised in the quality. I was expecting near perfection on one side. It is definitely to be used for jigs and small projects where you can avoid flaws and patches. This is not cabinet grade unless you plan to paint. Also, the bar-code stickers are a pain and leave a blemish. These need to be on the edge or more easily/cleanly removable.
After all that, knowing what it is now, I would buy it again for selected uses.

I was very disappointed with this plywood. Even after sanding, it is constantly shedding splinters from the face of the product as well as the edges. I used pre-stain conditioner on it before applying stain and it still was badly uneven in tone. This actually cost me quite a bit for the project I was completing, as some of the boards just simply needed to be replaced they were so bad. I thought I was working more with OSB than a decent quality ply.

I bought Baltic Birch Plywood in 1/2" and 3/8" thick sheets for table saw jigs. Worked very well. Only problem is that both sheets had dented corners and edges, so I had to waste about 1/2" of the board on all edges to get good, square edges. Probably got dented in shipping and handling.

I wish there were two ratings available, one for BB purchased in the store and one for BB purchased online.
I went to a local Rockler in Minneapolis and hand picked some beautiful BB. No voids between the layers, it was beautiful wood. Unfortunately I botched the job and needed more. I decided to get an experimental piece of plain birch plywood from [home center] to practice with. Satisfied with the results, I decided to order BB from the online store because the shipping cost was extremely reasonable. Big disappointment. Voids were everywhere, the outer layer was mangled around the edges. The quality of the BB was no better than the quality of the birch from a [home center].
So to summarize - if you go to Rockler to pick your own pieces of BB, you will likely find excellent wood. If you order online, you run a chance of getting wood of much lesser quality.
In store wood = 5/5
Online wood = 2/5

I purchased 2 sheets of 1/2" and one sheet of 3/4". All three arrived with a definite curve in them. A heavy tool box, a pair of saw horses, and 2 days solved the problem. Still, it would have been nice if they'd been flat when they arrived.

I ordered 24"x30" and 12"x60" in both 1/2" and 3/4" thicknesses. The 24"x30" was full dimension, as plywood should be, but when the 12"x60" arrived, both thicknesses were listed on the packing slip as 11-3/4"x 60". The 1/2" ply was a full 12"x 60", but the 3/4" was 11-11/16, not even 11-3/4". All had dings here and there, mainly due to rough handling...But the packaging on the 12"x60" was very marginal in terms of protection.
