Bought the jig to make several small boxes out of some very expensive wood. I watched the DVD and with the directions, setup took just a few minutes. Ten minutes later I had my first test joint with 1/4" fingers on a six-inch wide board. The fit was perfect. I used calipers to make my initial settings after my first cut. Perfect, snug fit the first time out. This jig works great.

I thought the instructions, which have lots of pictures, were great. This jig is really well built, and as a result is nice and heavy. The setup takes a bit of patience, but isn't hard. I have found that a clamp helps on the first cut, but then all of the rest are nice and tight if the "key" is properly adjusted. Make sure you square the jig very carefully to the blade. Well worth the price.

After building a box joint jig that I could only use on my table sawand was very inefient to use, I decided to try the Woodsmith Box Joint Cutter jig and was very pleased with how easy it was to use. The DVD video included with the product illustrated how to set and use on both the table saw and the router table. I was set up and making cuts within 15 minutes. It works great!

I had tried to make a jig for finger joints with limited success. This jig works great, easy set up and the video that comes with it was very helpful.

I cannot get this jig to reliably make repeatable cuts for more than two joints on a router table. That is the whole reason I bought it. The jig drifts when used on a router table, and when used on a tablesaw, the tearout is unbelievable, and yes, I adjusted the backing strip. The adjustable key on my fence is too short to be useable. I just hope that the store will take it back. At the cost of walnut these days, this is getting very expensive.

After several tries to build a jig I gave up and purchased the Woodsmith jig. It works great and the box joint cutter set is a must for perfect fingers.

I purchased the jig to use for cutting finger joints for drawers construction I am building for my home woodshop. The jig was easy to set up. I read the instructions and viewed the DVD which helped, but had to build some boxes to get the hang of managing the process efficiently. I recommend one minor improvement. The width of the key that is used to determine the location of the next cut is composed of two vertical aluminum plates, one of which is adjustable. One of those vertical plates is barely high enough above the jig to act as a stop for the wood. A higher plate would improve the ease of making the first cut.
