Freud Professional Dado Sets

Freud’s quality and craftsmanship in a stacked dado set. The negative hook angles make flat bottom grooves and virtually splinter-free cuts. It has two outside blades with three two wing chippers. This makes it ideal for underpowered saws because it requires less power to feed.

Freud’s stacked dado set allows you to obtain a perfect fit on shelving, joints, tongue and groove, and more. May be used with most 10'' table and radial arm saws. This resharpenable set will produce grooves from 1/4" to 7/8" in 1/16" increments. All blades and chippers come with Freud’s antikickback design. This dado set comes with a shim set and carrying case as well as instructions on how to make basic dado sizes.

1) Submitted by Lloyd, from Trinity, TEXAS on 2/22/2011 Customer Rating: Excellent dado blade set. Flat bottom cuts with no tear outs in cedar. Very smooth cutting and very little vibration. Nice to use a dado set again instead of my router table.

2) Submitted by John, from Grand Rapids, MI on 11/30/2008 Customer Rating: I'm a hobbiest and this is the first time I used a dado set. It cut solid maple and walnut very well with no tear out. I used scrap birch ply to make my tests cuts with and had had some tear out. The instructions tell you what blades to use to get the desired width. I was a little confused on how to position the chipper blades to get a good clean cut so I must have gotten it right. Over all I am very happy with the preformance of this product and would recommend it to my friends.

The blade thicknesses seem to be very accurate, although I have not put a gauge to them. They cut a very square dado which makes for good fitting joints. I wonder about they way the chipper fits in the stack, since it rests very close the outside blades. This could cause a weakness in the teeth if there is any slipage between the blades and tooth could break off. Otherwise, I am very happy with the set and they have made several projects much easier.

When referencing the supplied setup card for multiple dado widths I found a few errors. I guess it depends on how accurate you want to be. Long story short…. your going to need the shims. For the 1/4 I found it to be approximately .015 inch under, not a problem just use the .01 and .005 shims together and your on it! The quality and finish are exceptional.
