This is a great product for quickly building a gate that not only won't sag, but will also stay dimensionally stable regardless of the shrinking, twisting and bending typical of "wet" pressure treated lumber. I built the gate in the photo during the summer of 2005 and over a year later the gate is perfectly straight and aligned. It also survived Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans - one of the few wooden fence gates in my neighborhood that withstood the storm. I opted not to use the hinges attached to the brackets, and they were easily cut off with a saw. The only problem I had with the brackets was a broken weld - easily fixed with a lag screw. I would strongly suggest using 2" or 3" long 1/4" lag screws with the brackets instead of the smaller screws included with the kit for a truly strong gate frame. I just ordered another gate kit - the only way to go!

I was intimidated by the idea of building my own gate, so this kit sat in the box for a year. But then we got a new puppy and the gate became absolutely necessary. This turned out to be one of the easiest projects I've ever done. Everything fit together great & even the wood I used, which I found to be slightly warped as I was constructing, turned out looking straight as an arrow. You cannot mess this up.

I've used 3 of these. First 2 on a double gate that doesn't get used often. Last one on gate at my daughter's home. This is a well designed product that got cheapened in the production process. The hinge steel is not hardened enough to resist bending over time. Forget using pine for your gate if you want to use this product. I used entirely cedar to keep the gate weight minimized on a 40" gate 3 weeks ago, and the soft-metal hinge plates are already giving. And throw away the screws packaged with this.

These brackets are rigid and structurally the best brackets I have used for gates. Out of the box they are simple and straight forward to use. I re-built two 36" x 72" gates in one day and it took about 6 hours total time, including cutting ALL wood. Only con of these is the holes inside the angle support are hard to pilto drill--just have to drill at a slight angle w/o worry. If you need a set of brackets for a gate, use these.

We recently added a fence to our new home and was puzzled as to the gate system we were going to use because it would be getting alot of use.We stumbled across this system and it solved all of our problems. The installation was a breeze, our gate looks great and we have no worries about a sagging gate!
