even when hot because it maintains temper and hardness. Simply sharpen
on a bench grinder.

provides perfectly centered and straight pilot holes, so that even an

Customer Rating:
Fabulous product! I am a beginner and can't afford the really expensive stuff. I even had to wait for this to go on sale. I think the design of the pilot bit, with a built in adjustable depth collar is a great feature. The self centering bits work very well. As usual however, there was no documentation. I found out by accident that the counter bore adjusts for depth of drill. Also, as an added bonus, I found the third pilot bit already inserted in the driver assembly. The storage is average. You have to use every other holder to store the bits, and centering bits. Why not just use fewer retainers, and spread out their spacing. Minor issue. Overall, another great value from Rockler.

I'm in the middle of building a set of built-in bookshelves 24' long by 8' tall for a Pastor's Study. This drive set is an absolute joy to have especially given the quantity of screws that I'm using in assembling the bookcases. Add to it the ability to slip on the screwdriver. It works so well I went back and purchased the #5 and #12 pilot/shank/countersink bits. The next project at the church will involve using the self-centering bits.

My only regret is that I didn't have this set last year when I was making cabinets and hutches for my son. A real time saver.

I wanted to try this set for awhile but I was unsure it would work good. On sale I bought it & the countersink work great. I have tried other brands & they are not worth the money. I have always used DeWalt but with the attachment this is the one for the job. My only complaint is they have no torx bits included with the set. It is an excellant set & a good buy.

After first use I could not have been more pleased. Bits are razor sharp and make perfect holes. The countersinks cut excellent and have held up extremely well. This set replace 2 others different brand from a big box store that had recently burned up.

I have owned a number of similar products over the years and have been disappointed in the quality and functionality of each. That was until I received this set from Rockler. It is great, high quality and very functional. My only reservation is that with the screw driver bit in place, it is a bit long. Definitely will not work in tight places.

I recently bought this set and immediately put it to use on a project. I was very impressed with the quality of the components and the performance. It made assembly much easier. I would highly recommend it, especially at the current sale price.

It takes a lot for me to give anything 5 stars, but this set deserves it. It is my go-to tool, and used far more than anything else. It saves time, energy, and heartache. The drill is tapered, like the screw, sharp, strong, and with countersink--far better than the other 30 I have in the drawer. The Insty aluminum sheath fits over the drill instantly and drives the screw within seconds of finishing the hole. The self-centering bits never fail to center the hole where I want it. I can't imaging living without this set.
Everything is right where you need it, and the results are dramatically improved. I love this so much I have given several as gifts. Pricey, but well worth it.

I've had this set for about 2-3 years and use it often. Very convenient and well made. My only complaint is that the magnet in the Insty-driver could be a bit stronger: when using a square drive bit it sometimes sticks in the head of the screw and pulls out of the driver.

Have use a set for several year to install cabinets and door hinges. Worked great, so bought a set for my Son-in-law.
The self centering bits are the only way to go for installing hinges. No offset holes to pull the hinges out of alignment.

Do you know that feeling you get when you buy something and you end up thinking it was one of the worst decisions you've made? Or when you decide it's not bad, but you really could have lived without it and wish you hadn't wasted your money? Well this item falls into the third category: One of the best purchases I've made, I wish I had bought it sooner and now I can't imagine working without it again. It is convenient, quick, well-made and a great idea. It does extend the screw tip further than usual, but you get used to it (unless your drill is low quality and has a lot of runout). I have previously used two drills (one to drill and one to screw) but now it's like I have three drills. I use one drill with this two-in-one product to drill and screw, and I use the second drill for a different size drill bit or whatever else I need for the project. It's a great product, and I highly recommended it. I bought this 18-pc set because its a great value, but any of the smaller sets would be better than what you use now.

This screw bit drill & drive system is excellent. I've used it to set more than 1000 screws while building work shop cabinets. I also found the Quick-Change chuck to be more reliable and secure than the Craftsman type. The drive sleeve also works well as do the centering bits. I do recommend that Rockler carry a #12 centering bit to match the #12 countersink bit. Screws that large really need to be set on center prior to counter sinking.

I received this for Christmas and have already used it several times. What a great set! The counter bores and stops lock onto the bits in any position. The set includes all the sizes you could need plus the drivers for just about any screw! Very heavy duty construction too! Should last a lifetime.

The drill bits are great...no problem with them at all.
The only thing wrong with this product is it's case. The case is open on the sides and the elastic bands do not keep the countersink bits in the case. If you walk with them and tilt the case the bits can fall out. I have lost 4 bits due to this.

I have used the set for building cabinets, would have liked a stop collar to be included but purchased them seperatly and they work fine. Agree with the other reviewers, the case leave a lot to be desired but what's inside is what counts and the drills/bits are great!

I'm very happy with this product. I own the craftsman flip drill/drive and the insty-drive is a much better design. There's a little wobble on the bit holder sleeve but it's secure and drives the screws great. My only concern would be in tight spaces. When you're driving screws there's a lot of length from the drill to the bit. With the quick change chuck you could slip out the drill bit and slip in a driver bit to keep the length short. The case seems to work well for me []. Do make sure you get the quick change chuck. It rocks with this product and a few others.

The case is definitely a drawback to the overall rating of the product. Elastic loops are not tight enough to hold the bits. Very poor design.

I love Rockler products in general, but this one fell short of my expectations. Individually, the countersinks and self center bits are high quality and great. However, the insty driver mechanism had alot of play in it and the length added by the mechanism made driving bits somewhat awkward for me. Not a bad product, but the lack of stability and awkwardness of the quick change feature prevent me from giving this a glowing rating. I am sure Rockler will read the comments as always and continue to improve the product. A great idea, but in my hunble opinion, there's still some work to do to make it worthy of Rockler's usual standards.

Bought this set several years ago. Quality of the bits are good. The carrying case is poorly designed. The self centering bits sit sideways in the case, where they can easily slip back out. I've lost them all over time.
It's a great idea to sell small parts - bits, etc,- in cases. I bought this set because it came with a case. However, this case is a looser, literally. As a contractor, this makes a big difference to me.

A word of caution. This afternoon I was using the Insti-Drive and countersink set. As I slipped the driver off to use the RAZOR SHARP countersink, the counter sink bit jammed into my left wrist. It made quite a nasty little wound. "Oh well" I said to myself, "I will finish up here, and go into the house and tend to this owie." Moments later I did it again, into the base of my thumb, and quite deep. I finished up, tended to the wounds, and then decided to go to the ER for a tetanus shot. Of course, they would not just give me the shot, they cleaned the wounds again, took an x-ray, gave me a tetanus shot and antibiotics, and sent me on my way. I was working in an awkward position and did not have good control of the tool when this happened. Take care when removing the Insty-Drive from the countersink. Product great, user not so great.

I just finished a set of bunk beds using this product and found it to be a lot more useful and handy than I thought it would be (I deliberated for a while before purchasing). All of the components are made well, except that the #8 countersink bit often slipped back while drilling despite the fact that I tightened both set screws very firmly. This is potentially ruinous to a project, and definitely annoying. Also, it's not a very well designed case.

The set came in very handy for hanging some cabinet for a set of build-in shelves I am making. The drill bits and countersinks seem sharp. However, the quality of the driver bits seems very poor. I've broken one of the Philips bits and and of the slotted bits trying to back out a screw with my 12V cordless driver - the bits sheared in half. I understand the driver has a lot of torque, but expected the bits not to break so easily. Also, the hex screw holding the countersink on the bits seems to come loose fairly easily, causing the bit to spin while the countersink stops. Note: this was drilling into maple, so pretty hard stuff.

Have to agree with the others the bits are great, but the case needs some attention. I have use them and its great not having to rechuck after drilling a countersink and then having to chuck a driver. Well worth the money!
