Fun kit to learn on. Instructions were very clear. Had a great time making these with my sons. Love starting a new tradition and passing down a woodworking passion.
Three middle pens made with this kit.

Great value and the quality is on par with sets I have purchased at twice the price. I purchased 20 kits that my daughter turned and assembled for a fund raiser. Her customers are very pleased.

Having made a couple dozen of these pens and pencils, I've found them to be of very high quality. They go together easily and look great. I highly recommend this product and Rockler for the woodworker.

These are great pen kits. I'm new to pen making, but not woodworking. The 7mm pen kits are great for learning new turning methods and finishing techniques. These press together very well with no binding or splitting. You can't beat the price for these kits. Rockler's shipping procedure got them to my door step in just a few days. Thanks Rockler for great prices.

I learned on this kit and it is a good quality kit. the gold finish is durable, one small improvement should be made to the pen cap, and that it is to make it a bit longer, so it will not let the clip come loose after several turns of the pen mechanism. because the clip takes a lot of stress when you open and close the pen, which is so natural to use the clip as a thumb rest when turning the pen top.

These Rockler 7mm pen kits are really good quality and at a great price. I had an order for 8 pens with the lodge floor tile from a Brother Mason in Cumberland, KY for Christmas gifts. Luckily I had ordered 10 kits a week before and have placed another 10 pen order.
Thanks Rockler for your Speedy service and values.

An excellent kit that comes with clear directions and goes together easily. When combined with Rockler's pen turning mandrel, pens are relatively easy and quick to create.

The packaging is accurate, not a single part left out of the entire order. I work with mostly dark woods woods. The quality of the finish on the nib, collar, clip and caps enhance the contrast of dark wood and gold.

As stated in the Rockler write up -- the selection of blanks and the quality of the hardware is excellent and provides every thing you need to get started making pens and is an excellent value.

A great deal. We use the pen and pencil kits with polymer clay and not wood however, the free sample blanks you sent with the kits have inspired me to dust off the old wood lathe. Now if you would offer xtra fine, medium and bold points...that would be great.

I purchased several sets of your bushings (this was one of them)... usually I am satisfied with my purchases from Rockler, but not this time. Your bushing sets came individually packed in small baggy, no settings, instructions or directions for mandrel placement.
Editor's note: Instructions for bushing placement will be dependent on the pen kit being used and are therefore shown in the instructions in the pen kit rather than being in with the bushings.

I purchased 4 sets of pen and pencil set for a project and the pencil sets were damaged. I call Rockler and they replaced 3 pencil sets and out of 7 sets I could only use 4. I will not use these sets again.

The quality of the pen kit was good and the only issue that I had has to do with the pen cap. The clip becomes loose easily after some use and I have had to add a touch of CA glue to keep them together. I would continue to buy them and use them and would think it might be an issue the manufacturer might look at. Again, overall quality is good just can be a inconvienence to correct the issue.

This is an inexpensive simple kit. We have seen quite a few quality issues with the kit. The cartridges fail in a short time and we have seen about 40% of the kits with missing or incorrect parts in the kits. I bought 10 kits one time and was only able to make 3 pens because of the poor fit of the clip holder. When I asked about the problems I was seeing the answer was to file them down. It is an inexpensive kit but filing parts to fit should not be part of the procedure.

I have bought probably over 100 of these inserts. All have been excellent up until this last batch of 35 I purchased. Sizes of them have changed somewhere and now they are very hard to assemble. I use the Rockler drill vise that you can also use to assemble. Have to use a screwdriver in the end of the handle to get enough leverage to press them together. I still like the pen assembly but this last batch I purchased has been a problem. I will be back to Rockler to purchase future blanks.

This is a nice kit that is very straight forward to put together. I finished mine with 27384 Behlen's Woodturner's Finish for a great look and feel.
