1) Submitted by Phil Carta, from Anthony, FL on 1/17/2009 Customer Rating: Well built and does what it is designed for. However, the pins only have a 1.25 inch "throw" which is fine for smaller contours but way too short for larger carpentry. It would also be very nice for some sort of locking mechanism on the device to prevent the pins from changing position when transferring measurements.

The pins do not have much depth of movement, making it of little value when the contours being copied are larger than the travel distance of the pins, and 2. There needs to be a locking device to secoure the pins after conforming to the contour being transfered to the working stock. I found both of these shortcomings annoying.

Works pretty well for my application which was finding the contour on the siding of my older rv. You have to be careful when tracing the outline so the pins dont move out of whack. All in all, very nice unit, very fast service.
