Just a friendly update,my Jet mini-lathe or should I say full sized lathe after close to four (4)years is still the absolute best lathe I have ever owned,to this day it runs everyday and I have turned out almost one thousand projects with it! It has never failed to operate and the centers remain dead center true.Exactly as I received it from the Great folks at Rockler Pro.Com I often wonder if the folks at JET truly knew what a great little full sized lathe they put on the market. I have not had any mechanical type problems with this lathe,I wish I could say this about some of my other woodworking machines.But after almost 45 years of woodworking some have to break I guess.

This is by far the best Mini Lathe on the market, I am glad I spent the extra money for the Variable Speed Model, don't know how I would have made pen with CA finish, on a scale of 1-10 this one is a 10.

It is the best gift I ever bought for my husband. He has a full size lathe but prefers to use his Jet VSI and stand. He can't say enough GREAT things about it. I like how quiet it is. He has told everyone that wants a mini to get this model even if they have to wait longer to have enough $. Hopefully I will be able to get the bed extension and extension stand. What
an excellent machine and a happy husband.

I have a full size lathe in the shop along with this one. Most if not all my work is now done with the Jet. It's quiet, no vibration and a pleasure to run. From pens to Calls, to spindle work and bowls. I have yet to find something I am not able to turn with it. If I use the full size lathe, it's to bring the work down to size. Then it gets moved to my Jet.
A hard worker, worth every penny and a welcome to any shop. I would give a thumbs up to anyone wanting to buy one. Good work Jet.

I use to think Shopsmith was the best lathe in the world until I met up with the Jet 1014VSI mini lathe, which now has become a full sized lathe. Simply put, there is not a better lathe in this class anywhere
else. The lathe is a rock solid machine, it's centers are dead on center,no vibrations. It is hard to belive one can do so much with a lathe designated as a mini lathe.
Let us not forget to make your purchase from Rockler, great folks that stand behind their sales 100% and also offer the best prices on this wonderful lathe.

This was the first lathe I have used since high school shop class. Since I have had this in my shop I have not turned on another tool in weeks. It is very addicting turning all kinds of things (pens, bowls etc.) This thing is great and exceeds all expectations! I am not looking into the bed extension to turn table and chair legs. Stop looking and start turning!

The Jet Mini Lathe stand, bed extension, and stand extension, make the Jet mini lathe into a full sized lathe. For alot less than a full sized lathe. Once all the mini lathe accessories are added to the Jet Mini Lathe you will truly be happy if turning is your woodworking profession or just a hobbiest. The lathe stand is a perfectly engineered marvel. My mini lathe centers remained on dead center. I did give this a lot of thought before I made the stand purchase, but my worrying was just a waste of time. The only draw back I had was the stand instructions or should I say lack of, but anyone with a little bit of mechanical knowledge can mount the lathe and put the stand together in under 45 minutes. If push comes to shove Rockler.com offers a downloadable parts manual. Again I wish to thank Rockler for their 100% product support. Rockler is the best woodworking supplier out there bar none. Rockler is not responsible for a products lack of documentation, however they will and do go the extra yard to help their customers anyway they can until the customer is satisfied.
