I actually only needed the hinge. It was used for a barrister bookcase that had one stack with an insert for desk use and a drop front. The hinge was a little too long but we just carved out a little more for the inset. Worked great!

If you are a woodworker who needs step-by-step plans to work on a project these plans are not for you. If you are good at interpreting what you think they mean on the plans then you should be alright. On my desk, I used solid cherry for the entire desk instead of the plyboard covered with vaneer (as the plans called for). I basically went off the plans to a point and then did what I wanted on the rest. The pictures are the best part of the plans. With the hardware and wood I had about $150.00 in it. It took me a month to build. On the base I used a Kreg pocket jig system which greatly sped up the process. I can say that you get what you pay for when it comes to the plans, but all in all when the desk was completed I was pleased with the outcome.

This is the worse plan I have ever seen. They go into great detail on how to use veneer but the actual plan leaves a lot of room for improvement.
