I just received this item and have some comments on the instructions, assembly and initial quality. I will defer to the others on its use. Most seem to be pleased with this jig. I was disappointed to find that the handles were made of poplar vs. a more dense and durable wood. I also do not see why the manufacturer does not drill pilot holes for the toggle clamp. I drilled these holes using a 1/16" bit vs. the 1/8" bit recommended. I am glad that I did since, with a coating of beeswax, the screws went in easily. I think that the 1/8" holes would have been much too large to secure the toggle especially in poplar. Next the label on one of the bags indicated that the jog is pre-set for Blum 35mm face frame or frameless concealed hinges. I hope that the jig works with all hinge types. I assume that this is what the slots on the guide plate are for. Finally, I think that 1/4" washers should have been included to place over the end of the T-bolts beneath each knurled plastic knob. This is obviously not absolutely essential but I think that it would be better that way with the softer poplar under the knob. Otherwise the jig seems to be made of top quality components and I look forward to using it.

This jig worked very well and made aligning both parts of the bracket easy. However, I did find that some improvements are in order. The T-slot rail is not really long enough for anything but a small door. Fortunately I had one of the mountable T-slot rails handy, while setting up 30" doors. Also, it would be nice if the jig was reversible to allow for left and right doors. Sometimes it is not possible to place the hinges the same distance from the top and bottom of a door. If the jig would flip and "mirror" it would be perfect, but two smaller gauge blocks would also work.
Finally holes on the mounting plate were too large for the European hinges I had. However, using a centering bit worked fine to drill pilot holes that were re-drilled with the appropriate bit.
Overall the jig improved accuracy of installing European hinges.

As with most Rockler products this too is a good tool. It should be made clear however that the forstner bit [needed is long shank one specific] to the jig. So my project is now delayed as await the arrival of the bit.

After studying this product for some time, I finally decide to buy it. The results using this jig are just exceptionally neat. You don't have to be an expert to produce high quality European hinges installation. The jig goes right the very first time. I recommend this product to anyone installing concealed hinges no matter if you are a pro or weekend woodworker.

I used the multi tool rail jig it on a project I did on my neighbor's kitchen cabinets. I refaced their cabinets and made new doors. they decided to use European concealed hinges. The rail jig made it a snap. I had 18 doors to hang and I was able to drill install hinges and hang the doors in three hours. They were very happy with the results and so was I. I highly recommend this jig to anyone installing concealed hinges. It makes the job quick and easy even for the first timer.

It finally came time to start using concealed hinges and I opted for the Multi-Rail Jig. The jig itself is dynamite. Works wonders for the first timer and any experienced door maker will enjoy the ease of use. The only problem I have with this jig is that is the picture on-line or in the magazine. If you look at the wooden handles in the photo you will notice that they are made of oak, so is the stop. However, the jig handles are poplar which is a very big contrast in durability. Hardwood vs Softwood, but the stop is made of oak.

The directions to me were a bit confusing. It showed a picture and said use these holes for 3mm offset, or other for 5mm offset. say what? But the key was 2 sentences in the text. It said use one setting for face frame and other for no face frame. So I drilled by faith, and it worked.

I would not recommend the master pack. I found it to be useless. I ended up using one of the templates by itself and follow the Blum mounting guide where they recommend marking the door first and then transfering the centerline to the cabinet. Blum's template is probably better. The biggest problem with this sytem is stability. The clamp requires that you overhang the door from your bench. I found that this created a less than stable situation where either the door wanted to move around or the template itself would move a little. I would much prefer to use this setup in my drill press, but the clamp made that hard to do without building a jig for the jig. It gets the job done, but I wouldn't want to use this for a production system where you are making a lot of doors. Build your own drill press jig and save some cash if this is what you are wanting this jig for. Your holes will be much cleaner and you won't be tempted to hold onto the plastic drill jig with your hands about an inch away from an unstable spinning forsner bit. I might rate this higher if the price were about half. I'll probably use the guide and parts to make a real drill press jig one of these days.

I liked several things about this jig and was disappointed with others. The track system, clamps and plates all worked fine although you have to fiddle with the hold down clamps to get them to hold down tight enough, as well as the spring stop on the bit. The guide itself is made of plastic without a decent bearing material, which is fine if you aren't doing too many holes. Also it requires there "long shank" bit to use. After ordering the standard carbon bit from Rockler, I used it to do 8 holes and it was dull. So dull that it heated up and melted the plastic guide and melted the spring stop into the guide. So, if you buy this system, make sure you order the carbide bit and be careful not to overheat the bit.

This product works well with the supplied track but does not work with other size universal t tracks as they are a different size track. One would have to modify the track of the wood jigs in order to fit them. A big disappointment for those who want to use this on longer doors.

As with all of the Rockler jigs I have purchased, this one does a great job. I would agree with some of the other reviews that a longer T slot is in order, Set up is quick and accuracy is much better than I could ever do by measuring, especially with the edge of the 35mm hole so close to the edge of the door. With the accompanying template for drilling the face frame, I managed to be able to set the upper and lower hinges at the exact same distance, making it unnecessary to readjust for left and right doors. I think the only annoying part of the jig is the clamps used to hold the jig to the door.  The holes come out better than if you were to use sharks withlaser beams attached to their heads. The most time consuming part of the entire drilling process is getting the cup hinges square and parallel with each other, which tells you how fast this jig is to set up and use. I would suggest having an adjustable square handy to ease adjustment when changing door sizes, and if you are planning on doing doors larger than 26" or so, that you order a separate T slot that is suitable for your application, but you can always just remove the stop, and adjust the location manually, but that defeats the point of the jig, though it would work if you only had a few large doors to do. The jig is equally cumbersome on very small doors, like you would find on a 12" tall bridge cabinet, but it only took me about 3 extra minutes to drill the four holes required on the two small doors. I think this is a very worthwhile tool to have even if you don't do hinge installation all that often, but then again, I am a tool monger!!!

I was anxious to use this product, and waited a good three weeks while I built my cabinets and doors. When the day came to use the jig system, I painstakingly measured and tested the depth setting to ensure my hinge fit as expected, while not going too deep. What I did not expect was the bottom washer, which after three holes, would dig into the plastic housing about an 1/8" deep. Needless to say, with my roman ogee profiled doors there is a hole appearing on the side of the door. That in itself is bad enough, however had the housing been constructed of a more durable plastic or maybe a wider washer, I probably wouldn't have this issue. I have since modified the system, and appears to work as I would have expected. Not sure why the folks  never encountered this problem before. For the price of the full jig system, I expected a much more durable product. It has not saved me any time and certainly has made problems for me. I am usually very satisfied with the products from Rockler ... this is one that failed to meet my expectations.

This jig has helped speed up my production on door prep. The only problem I have, is when a client requests a 3/4" thick stile. I have a tendency to incorporate out-of-the ordinary edges on the stiles and the wings on the forstner bit do not allow for much depth on the edge bit profile. If there were no wings on the bit, this would be a perfect jig set-up.
