Absolutely worth the higher cost! The Nicholson #49 Cabinet Makers Rasp is an incredible tool. The points of the rasp are randomly cut, resulting in a clean finish along with fast material removal. There are no deep ridges associated with rasps with consistent patterns. The process is more expensive, but so worth it. I go from the #49 to coarse sandpaper with no problem.

For the musical drum builder or restorer, the 4-in-Hand Rasp & File can't be beat! It's great for creating or touching up bearing edges and snare beds if you are router-challenged, or just want to do some quick work. Only complaint is that there's no real way to make a handle for the thing, you just needs a pair of leather gardening gloves. But no drum aficionado should be without this tool when working on a drumset!
