I took some time to watch a training video by the vendor and learned from several of the reviews.
The clamps that come with it are not enough by them self. I used a C clamp on each end to clamp it to my work bench. I also made sure I used the sliding support brace and made sure the letters were tightly in place. I did not have any problem with it after taking these steps. I am not sure why they include the large bit but not the small one. Frontally I had the correct bit Core box R 1/8, but if you are doing small letter make sure you get a bit.
After a practice run on a scrap board I made several signs with no problem. I am happy with the tool and it meets my needs.

All of the comments about poor clamping are true. I added clamps to hold it to the workbench, but the fixture still came loose. I used the large letters for first letter in our names, and I used the small for the other letters. Since the router bit is for the large letters, I had purchase locally the bit for the small letters. The bit was on the short side and did not cut well. A good Rockler bit would be much better. Also the bushing for the small letters is too long such that it sits on the wood.
I used a plunger router for half of the sign. I switched to a Bosch Colt palm router for the remaining letters. The palm router still caused the frame to bend and come loose.
I will probably make a custom letter holder and try to use the letters.

I've made 4 signs so far with the SignCrafter and have found the little clamps to be the negative in what could have been an excellent item. The clamps offer no dependable grip on the project at all and cause endless frustration when they release in the middle of a cut. I don't like poor quality and so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone not willing to use supplemental clamps on their project. I'm looking for a more substantial system at present.

Received the other day and made my first sign. Very easy to use and put together. Need to some how find a place for the letters so they would be easier to find. Oh yes, the clamps can be a lot better.

I am very pleased with the sign maker kit. I am a very fussy person about making things look straight so when I purchased this product and made my first sign i was really excited, now my kids want to borrow my sign maker. What a wonderful gift that would make for them for Christmas.

I am disappointed that the kit doesn't allow to use the letters/numbers vertically (i.e. a mailbox post).
Otherwise, the kit seems functional.

I received my sign pro this week and in the last two days I have made eight signs for the local FFA kids to display for their livestock at the fair. It made nice signs and was relatively simple. I have to agree that the clamps could be developed to be more sturdy, because after making four signs the housing that the slide clamp secures to broke and I had to super glue it together to finish. It did hold and I finished. I would gladly pay twenty or thirty dollars more for the product to be sterdier and have what I would call longgevity. The letters would be nicer if they were made of a product that wouldn't melt when the router bit is heated up. Also it would be nice if there were different fonts available. Those of us that use these kind of setups are not pros, we are just hobbying or as myself doing charity work to help the local kids. I am very pleased with the way the signs came out, and I'm sure the kids will appriciate them, just wish that the unit was a bit more commercial grade step up. I will pay more for a tougher model.
