I absolutely love this paint. While it is an acrylic vs.true milk paint, I prefer the finish. It has a buttery soft sheen and is quite durable. I painted my kitchen cabinets in Snow White, which is a bright true white. Easily washable. Don't even think I'll need a clear satin topcoat. Also painted pine French doors in Snow White. Just ordered more to paint built-ins & fireplaces. Also mixing a custom grayish lavender for my lower kitchen cabinets. This is my new favorite paint line in terms of coverage, durability, washability, and soft sheen. I wish it came in quarts! I hope you consider carrying the white glaze too.

I used the paint on an arched mirror. I can't describe what it looked like when I opened the can..what I would imagine that spoiled curds and whey looks like??? After I got over the first impression, stirred and gave it a coat of paint, I was very happy with the result. It left a very smooth finish and this is from someone who not only doesn't like to paint but isn't very good at it either.

I used the snow white milk paint to finish this solid poplar toy box for my two year old niece as a Christmas gift.
This paint is great. A single pint was more than enough paint for three coats over primer, applied with a sponge brush. I used poly-acrylic to top-coat (it's a toy box, it's going to take a beating) the paint. I was able to apply the three coats in one evening, which was a life-saver since I finished up the project two days before Christmas.
Seriously, I'm a milk-paint fan now. This stuff is outstanding, non-toxic, easy to clean up with soap & water, and leaves an excellent coat on the projects. I'll definitely use this again.

I have to admit that I have become a milk paint addict. In addition to the Snow White, I purchased the Tuscan Red to redo a small kitchen table and two ladderback chairs. The Tuscan Red is a stunningly beautiful color--not too bright and not too dark. It covers well, dries quickly (as do all the milk paints), and has a minimal, non-offensive, odor. I am a freelance artist and handpaint decorative touches to my furniture; the milk paint serves as an excellent background for decorative painting with acrylics.

Since I had never used milk paint before, I relied heavily on the reviews and information on the Rockler website. I purchased the Snow White for some new ladder back chairs to give it a try. I love it and anticipate reordering to refinish other pieces. The milk paint is a creamy consistency, easy to apply, and covers beautifully. I used sponge brushes and that made the job even easier. Rubbing with a soft cloth after the paint is dry provides a natural-looking sheen that suits the period style of the chairs. It's a wonderful paint and if this is your first time using milk paint, you won't be disappointed.

This milk paint is the best kept secret that that I am so glad I discovered. This is actually the 2nd time I have purchased it. I had an old china closet covered in layers of different stain finishes. I literally just wiped cleaned the cabinet and applied lamp black milk paint on top. It covered in one coat. I added another just to be sure. One small can, and I covered the entire large cabinet with paint left over. I have had the cabinet for two years and still looks beautiful...a nice mat-like, smooth finish with no sanding, no harsh fumes.I didn't cover it with another finish. Just dust it with a soft cloth with a light spray of furniture polish. I just ordered more for another old piece. Love this stuff!

Changed those old solid maple side chairs into the new black look for daughter's dining room. Paint adhered fine after only light sanding for tooth. Covered with wipe-on poly and then waxed - applied w/0000 steel wool. Looks great and the paint was the right color, went on smoothly, stuck well, and finished out nicely. Much better than the old mix-your-own from powder. I used Pitch Black.

As an acrylic craft paint, its fine. The color selection is spot on for people who are looking for folksy things. I guess my only issue is, I don't think its actually milk paint. Its acrylic, and not really all that different than what you could get at a hobby store. I don't think it has casein or lime in it and the sheen is nowhere near flat enough to be a true milk paint.
Admittedly, for most peoples projects, not a big deal. But one of the features of milk paint is it is very easy to crackle, and some people like that look and buy milk paint specifically to do that with. Fair warning, this has too much sheen to crackle. Would I buy it again? Doubtful. Kind of depressing, since for the most part I've been pleasantly surprised by most of the GF line.

I'm a professional refinisher in the Chicago area, and I have had more and more customers asking for milk paint. I typically spray it on, then lightly sand and coat with vinyl sealer and pre-catalyzed lacquers. I also hand rub the finish after the topcoat has been applied, and I'm able to achieve an extremely durable, professional grade finish. Note: One of the reviewers mentioned that he thought this was just acrylic paint - it is definitely milk paint, but I believe it has a flow additive which may give it a slight sheen. This paint is FAR more resilient than acrylic. The additive enables this paint to be sprayed very easily, where other powder-type milk paints do not play well with spray guns.

I was trying to match up the finish on a new cabinet I built to the old cabinets. The Linen color turned out to be perfect. The Van Dyke Brown glaze I ordered however was not a match but the return cost is too high to make returning practical. Luckily I had an old can of Burnt Sienna Glaze which was a perfect match. I wish I lived nearer to a Rockler store so that returning unused items would be possible.
I do like shopping at Rockler online but seeing some items first-hand is beneficial.

I am in the process of switching over to all water-borne finishes and have been trying many different types and brands. This one works quite well but does take thinning a good bit to come out of a No. 4 tip HVLP w/4 stage turbine. I am going to try a No.5 to see if that helps. The pint cans are handy for working up finish samples for client approvals (pricey though) but quarts would be better for jobs and gallons would be handy for folks considering doing a house interior trim job.
