My father pre-cut these pieces and drove them a thousand miles to assemble them with my husband, they completed it in a weekend. These results speak for themselves. It is a huge hit with all our daughter's friends! Great design.

My wife and I had decided that we wanted to build a playhouse rather than buy one of the kits. We found this house and fell in love with it. I would rate myself as a novice as it relates to wood working, so this project was challenging. The plans do have some errors, such as the illustrations will show one thing and the text will say something else, so study both closely prior to cutting and buying material. I also recommend not notching the vertical swing post in the middle. I have watched it while people swing and it acts as a pivot point. It should be fine for small children but I plan on replacing it as my daughter gets older.
Even though the project was challenging I really enjoyed building the playhouse and my wife really upped the charm by adding all the finishing touches such as the flowerboxes and welcome sign. Not to mention that my daughter loves it, what more could we ask for!!!

Generally good design. However, recommend that the 4 x 4s throughout the design be upgraded to at least 4 x 6s. I helped my son-in-law construct this design, and there was quite a bit of flex in the swing leg and play house. In addition, I don't recommend notching the vertical swing leg where the 2 x 4s join the structure. This creates a weak joint subject to fatique. Making the above changes will not only ensure a long lived structure, but also enable the structure to adequately support heavier children and adults (adults love to swing too).

Amounts a bit off, cost us about $3,000 in lumber, parts, pain, hardware etc. BUT truly one of a kind! Everyone LOVES it!!!

This project was a lot of fun. I painted mine to match our house (a brick Tudor), and used plastic slate tiles for the roof. I agree with many of the other comments here. The parts list isn’t 100% accurate, but I live near a lumber yard, so I bought lumber along the way. Some thoughts and advice based on my experience. First, check with your town to determine whether you need a permit. My town requires a zoning permit for any type of structure such as this. Fortunately, I had gotten one before the project started and it helped me with a neighbor who complained. The swings, slide and other hardware I purchased from [local home center]. I opted for the less expensive versions of all and they are just fine. It took about 6 weeks from start to finish, and it was a really fun project.

Having a blast building this playhouse for my 3 year old twin boys. No, the plans are not 100% accurate, however, it is not a deal breaker. I am somewhat experienced with this type of project and have been able to quickly figure out what the plan designs call for. I have priced the project through completion at $1,200. Much better playset then one of those kits for the same price.

I am also building this playhouse. Along with the comments already noted by Eric I found that the 2x8 pressure treated lumber was measuring out at 7 1/2" wide instead of the expected 7 1/4 so just a heads up to measure your wood before you notch your 4x4's.
