Allows you to connect two 4'' or 2-1/2'' fittings together without the need for additional hose or hose clamps. Example: connect an elbow fitting to a Y-fitting.

4'' Coupling has 4" ID on each to accept 4" OD fittings. Plastic. 2-1/2'' Coupling has 2-1/2'' ID on each to accept 2-1/2'' OD fittings.

I use 4" in my shop, and these do a great job holding everything together without tape.

Very good idea and a simple solution to a small problem. Works well for connecting pieces without having to create a hose hook-up.

Low Tech. Nothing to it but it does the job well. I put one between my dust collector and blast gate and forgot about it.

I have used many of thesed 4" dust couplings because I do not have to rivet it to other fittings nor use duct tape to seal the joint.

The 2.5" dust coupling (#36973) is a great idea with a terrible execution. It fits few if any of my 2" or 2.5" hoses or fittings; it's either too big or too small. For the items it does fit, it's too loose, requiring duct tape to hold it together. (If I need to use tape, why bother with the coupling?) It's also too short; any tapered fitting I try passes right through the center before it is snug, which means there's no room for a connection on the opposite side. In all, a terrible product that can't be used in the real world.
