Easy to install on my 735. Spot on accurate.

Instructions are a little skimpy, but it was relatively easy to install, and it seems to be working well at least on the first day after installation.

Assembly is straight forward on a DeWalt 735. The self-adhesive tape didn't hold as this was a WR500 model and has been setting in the box awhile. I used double sided carpet tape (what wood worker doesn't have that around) to hold it in place and then drilled for the two small screws. I adjusted the unit to be as accurate as possible on the scale then calibrated the unit. It is spot on when compared with my two digital calipers. I actually like the slim design of the 500 over the new 550 model, as it is out of the way. My planer sits on a Ridged folding cart so the display needs to be out of harms way. The display works as described and is going to be a great addition to the planer. If you own more than one digital device using the small button size LR44 batteries your better off buying them in bulk.
Great device, accurate, multi functional.
Easy to install.
Easy to use.
Reasonable price.

A little trying on assembly, but very handy to have. I live near a saw mill and buy a lot of odd stock. This is a must have.

It took a little rigging to mount this on a larger planer but it works. I bought it for getting a repeatable thickness more than for getting the accuracy. Calibration couldn't be simpler. For the price this is a very nice addition to my planer. One nit: I find the readout is dim and could use a light.

I bought one of these about a year ago and have been very pleased. The installation on a Delta 13" planer is not the easiest, but it still works great. I think it was designed with the DeWalt in mind, but once you get it adjusted there aren't any problems. It holds the calibration (be prepared to have a stock of batteries though - they only last 6 months whether or not it is on) That isn't a big deal though since it is so easy to calibrate - just run a piece through and make sure you are removing material the whole way - then stick it under the height gage and hit cal - done.
Wixey makes great products!

Be aware that it is accurate to only .01 inch. The photo [shows] the third decimal of "5". The third digit is always 5 or nothing. Other than that, it is a nice product.

One week to receive the unit and another week to receive the missing hardware. Unit was dead. Replaced the battery and its still dead. Expected better performance, but got the lemon. I'll return it, get my money back and do things the old fashion way.

It was not made for a planer that the deck raises and the cutter head is fixed. It is made for the hobbie planer that the head lowers and the deck is fixed. It would be nice if you could make it to do which ever way you need it to operate. All it would take is to be able to reverse the input on the sensor input and it would work either way. Then it would be great.

The unit mounted easily but I find that the indicator seems to bind on the actuator a bit. I checked the accuracy with a digital caliper and was very surprised at the how close the two readings were.

Installation was a breeze and the accuracy is fantastic. Make sure you do a loose fit up before securing with the screws to test for any binding. I had to do a little bending to straighten out the actuator. After one year of use though, I'm on my fourth lithium battery #2032 at three bucks a piece. I suspect there is a constant drain to maintain the zero position in the guage, so I will start removing the battery when not in use. Re-calibrating is easy to do anyway on the first piece of wood you run through the planer. A 110volt power supply would be welcome.

A lighted indicator would improve useability. I still have to bend down and shine a light on the readout to see what position it reads. The instruction manual is very tiny print and drawings hard to read.
I expected better for [the price].

"I live in NJ, and wish there was a physical store near where I live. My experience with rockler.com is second to none. Not only are your products first rate, but customer service/product support is exceptional. I've called several times, and never received someone on the other end of the phone who was anything but extremely helpful, patient, and friendly. The biggest compliment I can give is that I TRUST Rockler for all my woodworking needs. The only other store I can say that about is LL Bean. My wood working friends in western NJ love Rockler. Keep on keepin' on - and get a store here in Jersey!!"
