They work great. I bought the rectangular pads to finish some pens, and they give a great shine even before applying any finish. Note that at least for the rectangular pads, they are not exactly as represented in the photo. My set has different colors for each pad, so you don't have to worry about reading a grit number printed on the pad.

My wife and daughter accidentally dripped acetone on our lacquered table top and tried to help by wiping the drops up with paper towels. I had 4 blotches down to bare wood to contend with. After cleaning, I filled the holes with laquer by spraying thru a mask but the results were rough and highly visible. I used the micro mesh pads, in order, with water as a lubricant and got the table top restored to the point where the can not be see t all. The top is smooth as glass! Great stuff!

I had problems with an uneven burl surface when it was time to rub out the varnish. With cork sanding blocks I was still unable to even out the highs and the lows. The highs would get polished but the earlier sanding scratched remained.
I tried the sanding discs on a Bosch random orbit sander. Starting with 1500, I progressed to 4000 and found the right amount of satin on the finish. The flexibility of the discs allowed me to hit the peaks and troughs evenly.
The even pressure did not cut through to the wood on the high points so I did not have to start over with the varnish.

I recently made stand for a round top chest that I made a couple of years ago. I can't believe how great a finish I was able to create with these sanding pads. They bring your woodworking to another level. Great product.

I originally bought pads for finishing pens. I got superb results! Who knew you could polish wood to a point where it looks like glass! I recently had a paint project which I sprayed on. As I don't have a paint booth,I experienced the usual overspray and dust(along with a drip or two!) I leveled the drips with 220 wet dry
paper and lightly sanded imperfections with 400 wet dry. I then went to Micro Mesh 2400 and finished with 3600. I found I could control the amount of gloss with the fineness of paper. As I wanted a satin finish I found the 3600 to be just right. You can't tell sanded areas from unsanded. I believe I could have gotten a laquer-like gloss if I wanted. The larger areas took awhile with the pads and the next time I intend to buy discs. I only wish I could get pads to fit my 1/4 sheet sander. With a little time and patience I think anyone will get excellent results with Micro Mesh.I firmly recommend this product to anyone! Many thanks to the Rockler salesman who told me about it!

I bought a set of discs to finish a table top. The pads work well as intended but they do not last. I am finishing a table that is 36 by 60, starting at 1500 and going up and used water, then a soap mixture as lubricant. The pads start to lose their grit onto the surface within a minute or so, and had to sand less than I would have liked. By the time I reached the final area of the table top after about 3 minutes of use, the abrasive was entirely gone from much of the pads. I did not use any pressure but let the random orbital sander work on its own. Will probably require three packages to finish the top and two extensions.

I have used both the discs and pads on my first electric guitar with what I think are great results. I used a paint pad to apply an acrylic gloss finish, and after 12 coats, there was a degree of gloss, but an unacceptable amamount of drips and runs. I gave the front and back an initial sanding with 240, 320 and 400 grit and produced a flat, matt finish. I then gave the surface a go with the 1500, 1800, 2400 and 3200 in my orbital sander, and already, the gloss was beginning to appear. I then switched to the pads which I used with a cork sanding block, and worked my way up from 3200 to 12000. For the first time, I found sanding to be exciting!! The finish was noticably better with each grit. Finally, I used a burnishing cream and got a deep natural gloss which was exactly the effect I was looking for. The sides were done completely by hand with similar results. Total time from start to gloss finish was no more than a couple of hours. Great product!!
