This was my first router purchase and I am blown away by Bosch. I just built my first workbench and used this beauty to route the edges with a 1/16" round over bit. The edge was perfect. I think I'm in love with this new tool. If you're looking for a great router for a reasonable price do yourself a favor and get this Bosch combo kit. You won't be disappointed!

I would have to say that this router is one of the best tool purchases that I have made. I've had it for about 2 years with no problems, at all. Plenty of power and very comfortable to use.

Have had this router for roughly 4 years now and am very happy with it. The switch did stop working on me about a year ago, but researched it on the web and wound up just having to diasassemble it and blow the switch out with compressed air.

I got this router to replace my old router that was worn out after 30 years of use. I am very happy with this router package. I shopped around quite a bit and didn't find anything comparable. Lots of options with the two bases and at no additional cost. It is quiet and powerful at the same time.

This product may deserve a 5 star rating, I've just not used it enough yet to give it that rank. I bought it for several reasons, height adjustment from the top of a router table with the router mounted beneath, variable speed, adequate horsepower, and the fixed base/plunge base capability.
I've only used it one time, with the fixed base mounted to my router table and the performance was flawless. A couple of purchase cautions, the first model of this machine did not feature the option of being able to adjust the cutting height from the top of a router table with the router mounted inverted below it. Make sure you get the RA-1161 fixed base. Second, I believe this "2nd generation 1617EVSPK router has a "sealed" ON/OFF switch which eliminates the switch problems addressed by owners of the earlier model.

I have only had this router for 9 months. I like the router, but I just had it fail. Probably the switch problem I have been reading about.

Purchased for my son as a X-mas gift. He is using it to build a shuffleboard table out of oak. Very useful for this project and many others to come. Great product.

This set is my 2nd router purchase, wish it had been my first. I love it. The fixed base is on my Bosch table permanently. I cannot say enough, Rockler Rocks. I will forever be a customer.

I absolutely love this router. It has worked wonderfully for the projects I have done with it. It has had the power I have needed. I love having the fine adjustment knob. Definitely worth the money.

This router deserves more than two testaments. It does what it does very well. The power is smooth and adequate for most all shop or field tasks. The fixed base is almost always in my table and the plunge for anything else. The controls are excellent. I rarely have to readjust depth after using the fine depth control (measured per rotation of knob). The owner's manual does a good job explaining all its features, though sometimes a second read is needed (for me) to get it down. The template system is also easy to use and well explained. I'm not a pro, but I've made furniture, trim and even outdoor porch railings with it.

Terrific router; excellent power! I have built 2 very large pieces of furniture with mine and I could not be happier with it. Most of the time I use it on my router table, but the plunge base is an excellent and precision addition. Unless you want to spend the better part of 1K, this is the one to buy!!!

This is one fine router. Tackles everything I had from American walnut to maple.
There is one draw back and that is the switch. It is not sealed so that fine dust gets into it. So I ended up installing a cable switch and short cutting the original switch. Very bad for a German tool.

Probably the best of all the routers I own and certainly the best value for the price. I haven't experienced any problem with the switch as stated by another review. Precision and reliability are a cut above the rest.

I bought this used off of ebay and can't say enough good things about it. It's soft start is excellent, the variable speed adjustment is quite helpful as I moved from larger to smaller bits and from oak to cherry to walnut all in the same day.
It has the perfect amount of power to maintain rpms even in the harder woods. With a good sharp router bit, it worked through the hardwoods like butter. The result was an even edge with no burning whatsoever. Even with a somewhat novice woodworker, it made my work look better than the old router I had before.
After shopping around and considering some Porter Cable models, I'm pleased with this buy. The collets change incredibly simple and I don't lose any time switching out bits with my Porter Cable router table.
If I had the need, I'd buy one of these again--but the way it's running, I don't think I'll need to for another 30-40 years!
The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 is because I've had trouble getting it into the fixed base underneath the router table. It's a tough squeeze and it's scratching up my motor quite a lot for some reason.

I've owned this router for 9 months and it just broke down yesterday for the 3rd time. The first problem was the electronic speed control. It gave out after about 25 hours of use. A week after I got it back the switch stopped working. Now it needs to go back in for ???? I am now wishing I bought a different brand.
My initial impression with this router was easily 5 stars but with all these problems it probably does not even deserve the 2 stars I gave it. When it works I love it. If you are after a reliable tool, this is one is probably not your best choice.
Now that my warranty is getting close to over I will probably pick up a Porter Cable 890 series and keep this one as a back up.

I like this router but did return it about 1 month after purchase. I use a lot of templates which are PC and Bosch can't even include the adaptors needed to use the PC bushings.
Power is fine and the speed adjust is nice.
Another feature that some may like but I don't is the smoothed wood handles on the fixed base. I prefer the rubberized grips like most of the rest of the manufacturers have. Not a bad router kit if you don't care about these features but if you have any PC or compatible templates, look for something else.

This router is really a pleasure to use, light and very powerful and extremely precise. I use it with a Rockler table and lift and it is very convenient except for changing bits in the table. Have an offset wrench now that makes it easier. The one annoying thing is that to use Rockler dovetail unit, you must buy two accessories, the RA1126 Template guide adapter and the RA1100 adapter to fit in it. Standard threaded base retainer screws do not fit, so take good care of the ones supplied. Other than that, I really like the handling of this router better than the PC. The router is a 5 star item

This is a great router, except for the switch. When the switch went out on mine Bosch replaced it. I was impressed with their customer service. Unfortunately only a year later the switch failed again. Aside from the major inconvenience of having to get it repaired, I really enjoy this router.
