I received the set today and tried one of the cutters on a scrap piece of oak using my drill press. The cutter worked as advertisted with no walking of the tool on the work piece. If you are in the market for plug cutters you should be well satisfied with this American made product.

I was using a set from the local hardware and made at least 500 plugs. My present plug cutter was very difficul to use in oak. I make gun racks and I use 24 plugs per rack. This new cutter make superior plugs with less effort and better results. The down side is the cutter takes up more wood, but I can handle that with because of superior end results.

I lacked the forethought to check avalbility of plug sizes before drilling and assembling my project. Needing a plug cutter, I went shopping, after exhausting all local possibilities I bought through Rockler on-line. I should have just started at Rockler to begin with.

After wasting time and money on cheap plug cutters from a local home center (and the poor results they produced), I ordered a 3 piece set from Rockler. What a difference ... uniform size, no 'walking', and they are Made in the USA!

What a disappointment! The unit either shoots plugs across the room, never to be found again, or the plugs jam in the cutter and have to be cut out, ruining the plug. There must be a better plug cutter out there.

I'd been using a plug cutter I bought at a local hardware store. Cutting plugs from oak, it would squeal, smoke, chatter, and then produce a not-quite-round plug with burn marks on the outside. I thought I must be using it wrong, but couldn't find a way to make it any better. I finally bought this set from Rockler, and found a huge difference. I've only used them half a dozen times, so I can't vouch for their longevity, but they worked great. Nice smooth cutting action, no jitter, no squealing, and best of all, nice round slightly tapered plugs that fit great! I don't know what the guy is doing who complains about the plugs sticking and/or shooting across the room! Maybe he should try flipping the cutter over in the drill!
