Simply squeeze to cleanly trim both edges flush with plywood faces. Trimmer houses four blades that cut flush with the edges and four blades that cut at a 45° bevel angle that are held in a spring-loaded mechanism that you simply squeeze until flush with the edges of your material. Full closed design is ideal for trimming both edges of flexible edge banding such as wood veneer in one smooth operation.

Good product and timesaver - but definitely not "out of the box" ready to use. I would take some time to practice on scrap and adjust all 4 cutting edges before using on your project - I learned the hard way as one of the blades was set too deep and it cut into the veneer on my plywood - once I adjusted the cutting depth of all the blades it was off to the races. Does not leave a finished edge - but a little light sanding cleans it up nice.

I disagree with all of the negative reviews. This product works exceedingly well if you use common sense and just a tiny bit of practice. Those that said a pocket knife works just as good must be satisfied with a less than perfect trim job. This product yields a perfect edge for wood and vinyl trim.

Works okay but not precise enough. Very sensitive to side pressure - if you use too much pressure it cuts into the veneer, too little and it barely cuts the edging. With some tuning it would be better, but a sharp pocket knife tends to work best.

I already knew that this was not good on wood veneer. I have used them for over 30 years. But it does a fair job on pvc tape. although any sharp knife will do the same thing. Just don't try to put very much pressure on it while using it.

The first thing to do is back out the bevel cutters. They aren't factory adjusted and will tear out the banding and plywood edge if used out of the box. The first time I used the trimmer it damaged my project. Not a happy experience! I found the recommendation to back out the bevel cutters on a website blog. My next use gave much better results. It's lightly made even for a Taiwan [made]item. I routinely use a small router with a chamfering bit and have had very good results. This trimmer will come in handy when I don't want to take a router along to a project site. A light sanding gave a nice edge to the birch iron-on edging.

I have had problems trimming both edges of a board at the same time. I have found more success separating the cutter and using one half on one edge at a time. Perhaps the blades on one cutter are out of alignment. I would recommend adding an arrow to the top of the cutter to show the direction of cut. There are arrows but they are on the side and molded into the plastic. It would be better to have them marked in a contrasting lighter color. After the current project is finished, I will be shopping for a better version of this device if I ever need it.

I posted a negative comment last year about this unit, something about it being useless. Well, one day I started to look at it from a different perspective. I realized that this is really a tiny hand plane which must be tuned just like any other. I sharpened the blades and retracted them so they take a shallower cut. Now this trimmer works perfectly. I have used it with birch tape and melamine, both with good results.
I sharpened the cutters with a water stone, holding them with pliers. Took about three minutes.
