I have built 3 of these horses over the years from the plans offered here. Plans ARE complete which any accomplished woodworker can follow with ease. The plans do work!! Plans are full scale. Use carbon paper to transfer to wood. I have used white oak, Maple, Mahogany, Walnut. Brushed Poly mane is still looking great after over 6 years. Excellent plans and easy to follow.

I just finished building this rocking horse and it turned out great. The plans had everything a hobbyist woodworker like me needed. The plans included a list of materials needed, templates of actual sizes for cutting the wood, and details of where screws, dowels, etc. go. I found the plans to contain the necessary detail required and have no idea where previous reviews had problems with the plans. Some woodworking knowledge would be helpful. I made a few cosmetic modifications, ie: instead of making the inlays flat, I actually had them raised with rounded edges. I made some appliqués for the hooves too. I used cherry wood for the saddle, inlays, and appliqués and I used white ash for the rest.

I built this horse from these plans in Dec 08/Jan 09, from Walnut & Mahoghany. The end result is fabulous, and my 3yr old son loves it. These plans however, leave a lot of assuming and deciphering of dimensions, up to the builder, that said the full size templates included are great, and most helpful. Thankyou.

I built this horse out oak back 1992, it has gone through six grandchildren in fifteen years and is still standing and rocking very strong. The joints are still very tight, the finish still shinny but worn and the macrame tail and mane not very fluffy any more.

I am very disappointed in this plan. It had a nice outline to use for most of the parts but that is all. I feel like someone wrote some basic instructions, without dimensions or sequence then took half of the instructions away and you are left with bits of random information. There are some pictures, again, random.
