Just purchased the Delta DP300L drill press after much research. This is my first drill press and I am very pleased with it so far. The laser works great after you align it properly, it's dead on. Very smooth operation, quiet motor, well build and finished. No run out from what I've seen after drilling through oposite sides of wood for a 4" hole, perfectly straight. A deeper stroke would be nice though. I would recommend or purchase this drill press again.

I purchased the Delta DP300L 12" Drill Press with Laser. I use the Press to drill 2 1/2" blanks for pens. Unfortunatly, the stroke of the press is less than 2 1/2" and the blanks must be shimmed up in order to complete the drilling. This is very cumbersome and annoying. The stroke should be increased to at least 3".
Editor's Note: this Delta model has a 2-3/8" stroke.

I bought this drill press a couple of weeks ago, and I only had one problem. When it arrived the box looked like it had been through a washing machine. The styrofoam packing was broken into many pieces and the box was held together by packing tape. To my relief there was no damage to the drill. The directions said it would take 15-30 minutes to assemble, it only took ten. setting up the laser was a bit tedious. All in all it is a very good product

I purchased this drill press after doing much research and in store shopping. While there seemed to be several "off-brand" drill presses out there that on paper looked comparable, a quick visit to the store proved the old adage that "you get what you pay for." I have had this drill press now for about 3 months and am still very excited to have it in my shop. As with most Delta products, this is a well-built, very sturdy piece of machinery. The twin lasers are not aligned at the factory and it did take some time to get them adjusted to my liking, but once I had them aligned I was off and running. The only change I would recommend that Delta make would be to power the lasers with the 120 volts used to power the drill itself. Even though very easily replaced, the 9 volt battery that the lasers use for power will drain fairly quickly if you don't remember to turn them off after making your initial alignment of the bit with the point at which you wish to drill. Still, I highly recommend this drill press and for the money you can't go wrong!
