At first, I thought it was another gimmick tinker toy, but then I had a need to sharpen a drill for a project I was working on and I was totally surprised at how well it worked. It has received a lot of use over the years and has not let me down yet. I don't think you'll be disappointed on this one.

Figured if it could do anything with them it would be worth while to try on my better ones. I now have the sharpest bit in the neighborhood. This is definately a thumbs up and at a fraction of the price of buying new bits for more precise jobs. They really got their act together on this one!

3) Submitted by Chuck Humphreys, from Sisters, OR on 1/3/2010 Customer Rating: I put off buying one of these for a long time, thinking it might end up being yet one more potentially useful tool but which, in reality, just sits on a shelf. But quite the contrary! Although I ground off nearly half inch of bit before my son and I mastered the techniques (the video helps more than the written instructions), I can now sharpen bits in no time. I no longer tolerate half-sharp bits, which happen a lot in metal working. Once you get the technique down, the bits seem to come out almost factory sharp. My only regret is having waited so long to buy one!

Grinds are good but the relief on the web option lacks some for it does not take enough material off. But overall a good machine for someone whom does drilling in many different materials.

I particularly like the ability to add a Split Point when sharpening. The split point centers the bit and minimizes / eliminates any walk around -- no center punch required. Great tool.
