I recently acquired a used Ridgid 12” compound chop saw I think one generation old and thought I would transfer the RS-1 laser from my old 10” chop saw. I knew it was not supposed to work with the Ridgid saw but thought I would try it anyway. The laser fit over the shaft perfectly and the only issue was that the hole in the RS-1 was too small for the Ridgid blade retaining bolt. I was able to drill out the hole in the RS-1 and it now works perfectly. The RS-1 has always worked well and shows the edge of the blade quite accurately.

Areas for improvement:
1. The line is fairly wide and not suitable for super precise trim work, but for most work it is just fine.
2. The laser is visible enough in the garage but becomes hard to see outside in direct sunlight.

I recieved my RS-1 laser guide yesterday. I put it on my Dewalt DW705purchased in 1999 without any problem, it fits right on. I did have a problem with laser guide it didn't work at first. My son found the problem was in one of the contact taps located where the batteries fit in. He had to bend the tap out a little so it made contact with the battery. Works perfect, I'm very happy with this product.

Just like the literature indicated, it does not fit older Dewalt 705 saws. I solved the problem by adding two washers to space the guard out a bit. Now it fits. The line is "spot on" with my saw. Just have to be within an inch of the material per the instructions.

Excellent product. The line falls right on the edge of my zero clearance insert. That tells me it's right on the mark. This is a MUCH better laser line than the Irwin which I bought and was totally unsatisfied with. I would recommend this laser guide to anyone who needs it. Installation took all of 2 minutes.

Just arrived and was very easy to assemble. As for the batteriers, I just cut the plastic next to the batteries and they just popped out! All I can say is that it is the BEST product that I ever purchased. Up and running in 5 minutes.

Bought it on sale for 1/2 price, installed it on my 20 year old Hitachi 10" chop saw. As with others the toughest part was getting the batteries out of the packaging! Once on it was dead accurate. I can't believe how great this is compared to slowly cutting your way up to my mark. Once again, too bad you can only give it 5 stars as this is has made my miter saw way more user friendly!

I'm assuming it's because I have a very entry-level miter saw that has a clear blade guard (Chicago Electric, from Harbor Freight), but I had to stop using this because the laser would catch me in the eyes while sawing. I'll probably give it a shot in my circular saw where that shouldn't be an issue.

I purchased the RS-1 laser a bit unsure that it would work with my pre-2005 DeWalt DW705 miter saw (not DW705S). I am very pleased that it installed easily with no modifications to the saw and works perfectly. The guide line is bright and spot on for accurate cuts. Getting it on sale is a bonus and with free shipping, the decision was easy.

This is GREAT! My cheap miter saw has a slight amount of play if I apply side pressure when cutting but, with the laser guide it is easy to keep on the mark. In fact, I find it a great time-saver because I don't have to draw a complete line across the board for most cuts. just make sure the laser lines up on the mark. Between this laser guide and a brand new blade, my old cheap saw is wonderful to work with.

The laser that came with my Bosch miter saw was always between 1/16 and 3/32 off and then quit completely. This one is dead on. No more double marking and hoping I'd get it exactly right. Just get the laser line on the cut line and the cut is accurate the first time.

I received my first ordered laser guide a few weeks before Christmas and I could not see the line. I called Rockler and they immediately shipped me out a replacement that I received a few days prior to Christmas. This guide works perfectly and is far superior in accuracy to the original factory unit that came with my Bosch Miter Saw. Rockler really backs their product and provides superior service.

I wasn't sure if it would work on my older Dewalt power miter box. But, it fit right in place. When I turn it on, it projects a line immediately to the left of where the cut will be. It speeds up the cutting by my knowing exactly where the cut will be. I also know that if there is no red line on my fingers, they will be safe.

I have used other laser guides before, and they were alright. However, they had to be used indoors to be seen well. I used this one outdoors, on my 10 inch miter say, and the line was very clear. I would definitely recommend this product.

I got this produce for my new 12" miter saw and it works great. It was easy to prep and intall, except the packaging was a little stubborn. The laser line is bright, sharp, and is very accurate. And being on sale was an added bonus too.

I put this on my Makita LS1011 miter saw. The clearance must have been too tight between the face of the laser guide and the saw guard mechanism because the label immediately was ripped off when I started the saw. I never did see the laser pattern when the blade ran. I gave the laser tool to my son to try on his Ryobi saw.

Not all aftermarket products will fit "everything" but with a little bit of thought and ingenuity you can make it work without compromising the safety or integrity of the machine.
I bought two and the first one installed fast and easy on my Craftsmam 10" miter saw. Did not fit my Craftsman 10" radial saw, but a quick trip to my drill press with a 5/8" drill bit fixed that pronto. Works great on both machines.

For those who have a Makita L1013 compound sliding mitre saw take the guard off and grind off about 1/16 to a 1/8 off the inside of the guard and the laser guide works just fine and it does not hinder the guards ability in any way. Love the product

I installed this on my Dewalt DW703 Compound Miter Saw and it is dead on. I was a little apprehensive about purchasing based on some of the product reviews, but have been satisfied thus far. It may not perform as well on other brands of saws but, if you have the DW703, it would be a welcome addition. I have not used it in the bright sun yet, so can't address that issue, although I doubt that any of these type of products would work well in those conditions. However, indoor use is as advertised.

After installing this product on my Dewalt 378 Circular Saw, the line was off exactly 1/8". After reading the reviews, I noticed a few other people had a similar problem. After I removed the original outer washer, the exposed shaft was about 3/16" shorter than the thickness of the laser guide. When I torqued down the nut, the laser guide bowed ever so slighty, but it is enough to move the laser outward 1/8" at the cutting edge of the blade. I was thinking that I could just add 1/8" on to all my measurements and live with it, but that isn't the case because this increment would change depending on the thickness of the wood. The thicker the wood, the closer the top surface of the wood is to the motor shaft/laser guide. It works great so I put it on my compund sliding miter saw instead. I would have rated it a 5 if they would have provided a spacer.

I am disappointed at how dim the lazer is. I tested the batteries and they all showed at least at 1.5 volts, Rockler promptly shipped a replacement. It was not as bright as the first. After spending over $17.00 on new batteries at Radio Shack I've resigned myself to the fact that this may be useful in the shadows of the shop but not outside in daylight. The packaging says "Bright Precise Beam". It may be bright in the dark but not on the job in a real world application (on my DeWalt chop saw).
Further, the lazer is almost an 1/8" off the mark. With practice you can get close, but if you want true precision you still have to eye the blade to the mark.

I bought two of these because of the great price, and reading these reviews helped me know it would fit my saws. The first one went on my DeWalt 12" DW708 sliding compound miter saw. It was a very easy installation, and it worked very well.

The one comment I would make is that the instructions say that it is aligned for the cut position when the blade is at the upmost position or 5 inches from the material. This was not correct in my case. For one thing you cannot see the line in this position because the blade guard is in the way. Moving the blade an inch down gets the guard out of the way, but the line is off the mark by maybe 1/32". The line moves sideways as the blade moves down. This is well documented in the instructions, by the way. Moving the blade downward to an inch or so above the material got the laser line perfectly aligned with the cut. I am comfortable with this position for adjusting the board, but it is a bit more risky than having the blade at the top.

My second unit went on my Porter Cable 7-1/2" circular saw. Again, it installed easily and worked as expected. However, with this saw the laser line is almost not visible on the top surface of the board. It is bright and sharp on the front edge of the board, so marking the board needs to be right at the leading corner or on the front side rather than on top.

Finally a note about the packaging - as others have said, it's a challenge - there is a well-known consumer reporting magazine that grants annual "Oyster Awards" for various products, and this is a good candidate. However, with perseverance and a sharp pair of scissors it can be done, and it's worth it.

Does not fit Bosch 3915 sliding compound miter saw with standard thickness blade: the guide is thicker than the regular blade washer and causes the blade retaining bolt to contact the blade guard. Could not evaluate accuracy of line, but concerned that there is no way to adjust position of laser line if it is not correct out of the box.

If you have a Makita LS1011 saw, this type of laser "nut" will not work for you. The blade guard mechanism will not allow you to mount it. Tried a similar style of laser I got from Rockler a couple of years ago. Had to return it. The device, itself, may be great, but check your blade guard mechanism, relative to the arbor bolt, before buying one.

I have been using a Rexon sliding compound miter saw for a few years. I have tried several different lasers on the saw. None of the lasers have done the job. When I saw the advert for this laser it looked good. Now I have it fitted I realise how good it is. The only problem is I can't give a 10 star rating so five will have to do. I wish the laser was sold in the UK but with Rockler that is not a problem. Well done Rockler, keep up the good work,

Installed the guide on a Dewalt compound miter saw. The guide line is essentially useless. It moves a considerable distance as the saw is lowered and when it is near the work surface its location is more than an 1/8" from the cut line. A quick eyeball placement of the material to be cut is far superior to the use of the guide.

I found out about the Infiniter RS-1 Laser Cutting Guide in one of my handyman magazines. They rated it quite high, so I ordered two of them. I have a 10" Delta compound miter saw which has its own stand. It is an awesome unit. But it didn't have a laser. Now it does. I had to temporarily remove the screws for the blade guard so I could exchange the washer for the laser guide. But, once I got everything back to working order and fired up the saw, It was amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes. It has a nice thin, bright beam of light that shows way ahead of the blade and shows right beside the blade. It works exactly as it is supposed to. My only trouble is that I bought one for my relatively new Bosch circle saw. But when I removed the bolt from the shaft, I saw that that shaft was square. My craftsman radial arms shaft and that of my Milwaukee circle saw are round. So I have a spare, because its such a cool tool that I am not about to return it. Now, I will find out how well my new tool holds up.

I have a Dewalt 708 Slididng Compound Miter saw that I have been trying for years to get a lazer guide for, even Dewalt does not make one that will work with my model. I came across the advertisement for the Inifiniter RS-1 and took a chance. It is great! Fits like it was made for my saw. It is worth the price and then some. The only drawback I have noticed is that you can't see the lazer in bright sunlight, but I don't think you could see ANY lazer product in the sunlight. Anyhow, I am very happy and satisfied with the purchase.

It will not fit on either of my 10" saws with 5/8" arbors. I am really disappointed that the information was not more detailed. If your saw arbor is 5/8" and does not have two flat sides, opposite one another [ie. 180 degrees apart], this unit won't work. Period. I bought these for stationary saws, not a powered 7 1/4" framing saw.

I ordered it to fit my 12-inch Porter Cable Miter saw, only to discover it did not fit 5/8-inch shafts. Further more, it doesn't appear that there was room for it to fit between the blade, nut and the plastic guard. I have returned it for a refund. Was the metal in it really strong enough to tighten down against a 10-/12-inch blade?

I read about this product in a home improvement magizine. I tried to find out which saw's this laser would go on, before I ordered it. It stated that it fit most saw's. So, I ordered it and it failed to fit my Craftsman saw and the other hand saw I have. I still haven't tried it on the miter saw yet, I just hope it fit's that one! I bought it to fix my hand saw's because that's where I need the most correction when sawing. I always draw a line but, it's would of been nice to have the laser unsteady hand sawing. I overall, have yet to get it to work, and I was so disappointed, I just left it sitting on my tool bench.

I rated this a poor product because I cannot use it. I have a Craftsman circular saw. The saw spindle is of a round design with one squared off side. This laser washer has two squared of sides. It wasn't until I took the package apart, placed the batteries into the laser cutting guide, and attempted to install it that I found out that it would not fit.

I bought this laser to put on my Makita LS1214F 12" miter saw. It won't work because of the diameter of the center bolt and the thickness of the laser interfers with the blade shield. Its a nicely designed unit but I will have to use it on a different saw. I didn't see the documentation when I ordered indicated it was not compatible with a Makita LS1221 and it should have been a clue. Check compatibility closely.

Information on the center hole should be included. I assumed a 5/5" hole but it comes with a race track hole that fits a hand [power miter] saw. Instead of using it on my radial arm saw I used it on mr Dewalt hand [power miter] saw and it worked well there.

I recently purchased two RS-1 Laser Cutting Guides. The guides as delivered did not fit either application that they were bought for. The guides come with 5/8 double flat center hole. My Craftsman has a 5/8 single flat shaft. With that one flat on the Laser guide was cut out and it works perfictly. The other guide was bored out to fit my 10 inch Radial arm saw which has a solid 5/8 shaft. Both are working very well and I am more then satisfied.

Whoever designed the packaging on this should be forced to try and open it him/herself. Terribly difficult. I installed this on my Bosch 3915 easily. Only problem it misses my actual cut line by 3/32. I can eyeball the blade location better than that. I saw no means of adjusting the location of the laser line, so I assume it's not possible. The line is off to the left of the mark, so shimming won't do it (I guess). It is going back.

I mounted the RS-1 on my DeWalt DW703 & it fits like it was engineered especially for my saw & works excellent. The only drawback is that the RS-1 is kind of dificult to remove from the package but well worth the struggle. Laser line is dead on the mark. Makes miter saw cuts a lot simpler & more accurate.

This laser works just as described. I installed it on my Ryobe TS341 10" miter saw. There appears to be an adjustment screw behind a pop-out on the rim of the body, so even if it was off a bit, it should be easy enough to adjust.

Extremely happy with this purchase. Installed and my first cut matched perfectly with the projected Laser mark. I returned two of the higher cost Irwins. Both were left of cut by a sixteenth or so. Even Irwin sent a reply to my disappointment, stating that they were designed to be left of the cut by a sixteenth. Take note, the Infiniter would be a Great buy at twice the price.

Very easy installation and the laser makes hitting the mark "spot on" every time. This reduces cutting time noticeably. A small down side might be a little more opportunity for blade flex since the laser is not as robust as the washer on my DeWalt miter saw.

I bought for my 10" Makita sliding miter saw - but it will not fit. I installed it on my skill saw. It projects a nice clear line about 3/16 from the cut. There is no adjustment. Having a line parallel to your mark is of some small benefit and you have to wreck the packaging to try it out so I won't try send it back. Not the best $20 I ever spent by far.

I bought this laser guide for my 10" Delta miter saw #36-085. It bolts up easily, laser is right on the money. It works great.
Downfalls with my saw... Guide is much thicker than the blade washer (which it replaces).
-Because it's so thick, the head of the blade bolt rubs againt the safety shield.
-Also, the blade bolt only engages a few threads into the center hub, which concerns me. I don't feel safe using it. Having an incredibly difficult time finding a longer bolt (Metric M8 X 1.25).
Hoping I can find a bolt from another saw which fits.

I bought 2, 1 for my radial saw the other for my chop saw, Item worked as described however it says its fits a 5/8 arbor, I had to drill mine out on a drill press, carful not to melt the insides, took sbout a hour allowing time to cool and a bit of filing, onve on it worked good chop saw was a 3/5 arbor and fit perfect, all in all very happy with the way it performs, not happy with the labor it took.

Editor's note: drilling out center of this guide to modify it as the reviewer describes is not recommended.

I had to ream out the hole to fit my Makita 1212 sliding compound miter saw. The catalog does not say that the laser doesn't fit this model saw. It does mention a Makita, but not the 1212, unless it was a misprint. The reason I rate this laser as "poor" is that the line is so weak (dim) that it is almost invisible in normal daylight. I previously had a $49.00 laser that had a good, bright line. You get what you pay for. The line on the laser, if visible, is very close to the blade, so this is satisfactory.

Like others have said, it's heck to get out of the package, but right on the money for cutting where the laser beam is located. Only drawback is when you cut, the waste always has to be on the right side of the blade. Good product.

I purchased this product several years ago and installed it on my Craftsman 10" mitre saw. It worked great. That saw was replaced recently with a Dewalt 716. Unlike some others who have had to shim in or out their blade to align with the beam, I put this on my Delta Miter Saw and it worked perfectly first time around.
One bone of contention: packaging insert gives the impression this will fit saws with 1/2" arbor "...fits most 7-1/4" - 1/2" Miter... and hand-held Circular Saws." No way! But I'm really pleased with it for the miter saw!

When I installed this item on an old Black and Decker circular saw the laser lines up about 1/8th of an inch to the right of the cut line.
The package (difficult) directions tell you to "Align laser line to mark with blade in upper-most position."
However, as previously mentioned in other reviews, there are no directions for adjusting the alignment. And after inspecting the diagrams and the RS 1 laser itself I could find no way to adjust the alignment.
I checked the website listed listed in the package directions (www.infiniter.com) and did not find the RS 1 in the products section. I emailed the company, Quarton.com, a couple of days ago and have received no reply yet.
I did not read the reviews prior to purchase and I regret that now.
I would not buy the product knowing what I now know.

I bought this laser guide with the intent of installing it on my radial arm saw, hoping to improve its' accuracy, even though it was designed for a chop saw. You know what they say about the accuracy of a radial arm saw - God created the earth in six days using a radial arm saw, if he had used a table saw, he would have been done in three days and the coastlines would have been straight. Based on a review from another user, I knew it could be modified. This is true. You need to enlarge the mounting hole so it will fit on a 5/8 inch arbor. Care must be taken not to overheat the unit while drilling. Even though I was careful, I still overheated the unit, due to the hardness of the mounting ring I even used cutting oil. I was plesantly surprised that I had not toasted the unit and it works quite well. The beam is partially blocked by the blade guard, until you lift it out of the way as you are cutting, but this does not cause any problems.

Editor's note: Rockler does not recommend this modification.

I purchased th Infiniter RS-1 Laser cutting guide to put on my old B&D 10" miter saw. Paid full price then recieved an ad 2 days later that had it at half price my luck. I, of course, assumed it would fit since the description says "Fits most 7 1/4", 8", 10", and 12" saws. Unfortunately, the bolt used to mount the 10" saw blade on my miter saw is 5/8" in diameter and is made for a standard 10" sawblade. The hole in the RS-1 has 2 flat spots, one on either side and will only fit my circular saw. There is no way the RS-1 can be used on a standard 10" miter saw arbor bolt that is 5/8" in diameter. Now if someone will come up with a laser cutting guide that fits my 5/8" arbor, I'll be happy to buy it.
