I have a couple 4" hoses and this is by far the best and most flexible. I would buy it again which is the best you can say about any product.

This hose is very sturdy and is a very good value when it is on sale. The helical coil on the Rockler hose is compatible with the offset hose clamps also sold be Rockler. It is important to note that the helix can rotate in two directions. I found this out when hose I ordered from another company would not work with the hose clamps. The Rockler products are compatible and work very well for dust collection.

Very durable. I've got roughly 40 feet draped to a contractor's saw, jointer, planer, router, and now looking to use convert from the 4" to the 2.5" for a drill press.

I was impressed by the way it maintains its toughness after cutting the 10" section into smaller lengths. Initial fear was that cutting would lead to tear-out of the plastic but so far no signs of that.

Great hose. I did my whole shop with it. It is tough stuff, so you do have to stretch it out. The more you stretch it out, the smoother the inside gets. I wouldn't recommend doing this, but I hooked it over a beam and it was able to hold my body weight of 160lbs without any damage. That was the 2.5" hose. That was definitely getting close to disaster, but it gives you an idea of this products overall quality. If you need a quality clear flexible hose, get it and get on with your woodworking.

Used the 2" hose to connect between the 4"/2" reducer and the fences on my router table and drill press. The 2" hose fits exactly on all the Rockler items. Heavy duty yet flexible.

I will use my 4 inch hose on a dust collection hood that I am in the process of building for my miter saw. I like the flexibility of the hose and that it is clear and I can see if it clogs up.

I have used one of the 4" hoses for several months. I agree the hose is quite flexible and expandable, and therefore very useful. I disagree, however, with those who say it is durable. The plastic tears rather easily. I have experienced at least three tears and I expect more.

There are a other places to get flexible dust collection hose for a few bucks less. Don't waste your time with them, though. It's not worth saving 8 to 10 dollars.
The hoses from Rockler are very flexible and heavy duty and have a thick wire reinforcement coil that doesn't kink.
The other guys out there will sell you stiff hoses with no wire reinforcement that are thin and crush and dent easily.
I am considering throwing out some of my other crummy hoses and replacing them with Rockler's clear hoses.

I only have 2 dust hoses for my Jet DC-500, this 2.5" and a 4" both 10' long. Given my inexperience with other hoses, I can't compare, but I feel that these are excellent hoses! Not too heavy yet sturdy. I like the clear plastic so I can see inside. I paired them both with Rockler's special briged hose clamps and the Dust Right handle/ports. I'm very satisfied with my little system!! I am a home-shop guy just getting into dust collection. This set up is perfect and I don't think I'll need to upgrade for quite some time.

I bought the 1'X4" peace of clear flex hose (PN26660) along with a 5 pack of 4" steel base clamps PN64528). I used them to connect a 4" X 2.5" reducer to my bandsaw so I could use my 2.5" 16 gallon shop vac for lower wheel cleanout. Works great!
The hose fit perfect over both the band saw 4" port and the reducer. Also the clamps are stout enough to put ample pressure on the tapered bandsaw port end to make a tight seal. I also like being able to see into the hose and be sure it stays clean. I also like the flexability of this short hose. It can bend to a 90 degree angle when needeed. By the way, this hose is not short. When fully extended it is almost 16" long!

Outstanding hose for durability and being clear makes it easy to find a blockage.
Very poor estimate of length. I understand it needs to be stretched, but even at that I get about 8 feet of "usable" length. Ten feet is possible if this hose were hung vertically as part of an overhead system, but no way if used like most of us probably will...connected across the floor. I bought two ten foot lengths and am now short by about six feet. Not too pleased about that. Plan accordingly.

I originally bought the 2.5" hose for a router table I built from "The New Yankkee Workshop Plan". It was easy to splice and work with. I like the fact that it is clear because I am able to see an obstruction. The 4" hose I will use on my new cabinet saw which produces a mountain of dust and chips quickly. At present I use my shop vac, but when my dust evacuation system arrives I expect to be dust free,..almost. I guess it wouldn't be woodworking without tracking some chips into the house.

This 10' section of 4" dust collection hose plus 4 90 degree elbows completed all necessary pieces I needed to complete my dust collection system. Most of the pieces where on sale at the time of purchase which saved me many dollars, while at the same I was getting high quality products. If I should need more pieces, on sale are not, I would purchase them from Rockler. Thanks for being a woodworking supplier of fine products at a reasonable price and outstanding service and satisfaction guarantee.

This is a quality hose at a reasonable price when on sale. My only complaint is that this is the shortest 10 feet hose I have seen. Who measures this when it is cut? They need an accurate tape measure.

I noticed some reviewers were discombobulated when they removed their 10' hose from the 3' long box that it was packed in didn't spring out to the full 120" that they were paying for. Our hose was also less than 8' long the first time it was used. Now a few weeks later I know it's over 10' long because when it's not in use it lays on top of a 10' long wood rack and both ends hang over a few inches. That's pretty darn good when considering the price we paid would have only bought 7 1/2' of hose somewhere else.
Thanks Rockler! You've always been one of the best suppliers to deal with but you keep finding ways to give even better deals along with your outstanding customer service.

My main complaint is that for those customers that have been purchasing exhaust duct system items for many years from Rockler should have been forwarned that the clear duct is in a reverse spiral direction than the old black duct, and that any "threaded" fittings will not work with the clear duct.

The hose does not measure 10 feet out of the box, but if stretched it will give you ar least 10 feet. I stretched 4 hoses between a table saw and a planner table to get all 4 to 10 feet plus.

57) Submitted by Poppy Jo, from Oxford, CT on 3/21/2008

For Darrin, Altus, OK, the whistling comes from drawing to much air into the hose end, if you have a blast gate, try opening the gate a little and see if that helps. If not try another port open to the atmosphere and regulate it to get good sucking without the whistling.
58) Submitted by Kedric from IL on 12/9/2007
[]it is ten feet if you stretch it to a totally unusable tension. I did find that carefully heating it with a heat gun and letting it cool in the tensioned state gives it more usable length, not ten feet though.

The length is questionable. It is difficult to try and stretch the hose. It would require a very strong anchor on each end because it is not that flexible. Otherwise it is OK.

I agree with the other comments. We live at 9,700' in the mountains and my shop in the winter hovers at around 55 degrees. I laid the hose out so it would stretch but what it really needs is some sun power. Maybe will flex more when it warms up in another 6 months when I can lay it out in the sun. I'm not sure how I will get the connector inserted as it is very tight and stiff presently. I doubt the manufacturer anticipated it being used in such an isolated place in all fairness to them.

The length stated in the catalog and on the box should be changed from 10 feet to 8 feet. I had to adults pull on each end and only had 8 to 8 and one half feet and that was really stretching the hose! The hose is heavy duty and being clear is a nice feature also. There is just know way you will ever get 10 feet of usable working length out of it. I would suggest that Rockler open a box and check this out and make corrections either way.

The good: Excellent heavy material.
The bad: Does not offer 10' of working length. The product is so stiff in its collapsed state it has high resistance to air flow due to the interior valleys. If a person could get it stretched out and stay that way it might have as much sucking power as black hose because the interior wall gets smoother. Worst part is that none of my 4" screw on fittings work since the wire spiral is the opposite direction of black hose. I have to buy new ones.

The 4 inch and 2.5 inch clear dust collection hose is of good quality. It is heavy duty, moderately flexible, and does not collapse. The advertized lenght is a S-T R-E T-C-H of the imagination and of the tube itself. You can possibly stretch this roughly 6 foot piece of hose to 10 feet, but there will be significant recoil tension. If I pull hard enough to get the length to 7 or 8 feet, it will pull my DC unit along with it. Perhaps when the summerr heat reaches above 100 degrees as it does here in the summer, it might reach 10 feet, yet to be determined.
Just be aware that if you plan to use this product without mounting it you will need more than you think. At rest, it is less than 6 feet long, and compresses to 3 feet.
I hope this review is useful, just buy more!

This is very nice hose but 10 feet? Really? Comes in about a 30" box tube and needs to be stretched. It might become 10 feet in a tug of war between two open class diesel sledpullers. I am getting maybe 7-1/2 feet of useful length so far. Perhaps it will relax over time. Again it is very nice hose though!

This hose provides very good dust collecting capabilities. The quality is seriously lacking as anywhere you have a bend in the hose! the metal ring pops out and the hose then partialy colapses and soon after the rubber hose tears. To fix it you have to cut off the offending section and thus makes the hose that much shorter. The only fix is to support the hose in such a way that there are no sharp bends it it! this is difficult at best. I have cut two 6" pieces off the dust collector end so far and the metal is again coming out at the bend. I like that the hose is clear but the fact that is was cheap  pretty much says it all. I would not buy this again! You get what you pay for!

Just got aoround to using this 4" flex :  #1 it is really stiff when cold, #2 unless you have the spiral connector fittings (that are a lot less than 4" OD) good luck getting this hooked up to a blast gate or dust outlet. I have over a dozen connections of 4" hose including some flex from another source - never had a fight like this one, #3 No where near stated length. Don't waste money or time on this stuff
