This new Woodworkers drill press was designed with the woodworker in mind. It's design has many convenient features that other so called woodworking drill pressses do not offer. The twin LED lights are designed to not cast shadows on the workpiece like conventional lights. The twin lasers help to pinpoint exactly on the workpiece. The expandable work table is the largest in the industry in this class. The single handle speed changer allows you to run the full range of speeds without ever touching a belt and the front mounted digital readout displays the exact speed the spindle is running. It also features a larger motor then any other drill press in it's class to handle even the heaviest jobs during your project.

Very well made and designed for the woodworker. Right out of the box it was an easy assembly but you need to have someone help lift the motor assembly. The laser set up was a little tricky getting the cross hairs to line up but once aligned the point was right on. The led work light is weak, needs to be brighter, I had to add a magnetic light too help. The large work table is a big improvement for woodworkers, but the fence design is hard to use and needs to be aligned often. Dust collection works well. It is easy to change speeds while the motor is running. Over all this is a great improvement for woodworkers.

I replaced an inherited 1940's bench top drill press that didn't even have a name on it. The Powermatic PM2800 was a vast improvement for me.

My box was missing a number of assembly components that I had to obtain from WMH Tool Group directly, which took an annoying three weeks. You will need two people to safely assemble the unit, especially when lifting the motor assembly up for installation. Once you have all the parts, it takes less than an hour to setup.

After a year of use, I find the laser feature useless. Every time you change the table height, you have to realign the lasers with metric allen wrenches. I don't normally bother unless I have a lot of repetitive pieces to drill.

In a well lit shop, the light is not needed, but is a nice touch. The speed adjustment is excellent and smooth. The key-less chuck works smoothly too. These two features are worth the price alone.

The adjustable fence is serviceable, but I ultimately built my own fence with a 4" dust port as the 2.5" dust port was not effective at controlling the dust.

The tilting top table saw style miter slots lend themselves to numerous jig uses. The slide out table wings are nice and easy to use.

Overall it's a nice unit with a few annoying accessories to could be better designed.
