Router Safety Tips:
It's easy to prevent mishaps if you take a few simple precautions.

1) Rockler recommends using 1/2'' shank router bits whenever possible. 1/2'' shanks provide better stability with less vibration to produce a smoother cut and longer cutter life.
2) Make multiple light passes rather than one heavy cut.
3) Install your router bit so that 90% of the shank is inside the collet. Here's a rule of thumb: fully insert the bit, then pull it back 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.
4) Use a router table whenever possible.
5) When using large diameter bits, reduce the RPM of your router. Then test your set-up on scrap lumber.
6) Always follow your router manufacturer's recommendations.

Overall I'm very happy with this case. As other reviewers have said, I should have bought the larger one!
I've run into two issues with this case that have made me rethink my bit storage a little. First, the manufactured holes do hold the bits very tight. It can be hard to get bits in, and even harder to get them out. I've cut myself more than once doing this, and every time it gets me thinking about what to do differently. The second issue is that the box is fairly limiting on how tall your bits can be. I have several pretty tall bits, and they don't fit in the case. It's a little obsessive on my part, but I would really like a solution that lets me keep all the bits in one place. I will probably end up pulling the insert out, enlarging the holes slightly and then putting the insert in a drawer to fix the height issue. The box will make great storage for something else!

I purchased and really like the large case that indeed filled up fast. I used a 1\2-inch brad point bit on the drill press and drilled out the 1\4-inch holes. The bits fit snug, however the newly drilled holes don't grab the bit nearly as hard as the manufactured holes. I have cut myself while pulling a bit from a pre-cut hole. I now use a piece of leather to wrap the pit before removing\replacing it. This is preferred over the thought of my bits bouncing around in the case.

The storage case works just fine for its intended purpose. It's well constructed and definitely does a nice job protecting the bits. My one complaint would be that it holds the bits quite firmly, making it difficult to extract them and making me worry about cutting myself in the process.

This router case is well-constructed, easy on the eyes, usable, and not overly brutal to the wallet, especially if you catch it on sale. The rows alternate between 1/4" and 1/2" shank, and almost all bits (that I have, anyway) fit in the case fairly well -- the exception being really long straight bits. Extremely wide bits can require a bit of fiddling to get to live peacefully with their neighbors.
The padding holds the bits well, occasionally being a bit reluctant to give up its charges, but not incapable of being persuaded. My biggest regret over buying the case is that I didn't get the larger case, as it took a surprisingly short time to fill it.
Overall, a decent purchase.
