Micro-Mesh Cushioned Abrasives

Washable and reusable abrasives are great for sanding small projects on the lathe! Unique cushioning design results in extended abrasive life, the best surface finish possible, and fewer steps. Conforms to the shape while providing even pressure against the surface.

Backed with a flexible cloth, large micron-graded silicone carbide crystals recede to an even planing level as they establish each successively finer scratch pattern. Using water as a lubricant is encouraged to extend abrasive life and cool the work surface. Can be washed, dried, and reused again and again! 2" x 2" soft-touch pad set includes nine pads in grits: 1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000. 3" x 4" soft-touch pad set includes foam block and nine sheets in grits 1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000.

1) Submitted by Dennis Derringer, from Florence, SC on 7/1/2011 Customer Rating: I'm new to turning pens and tried this on my first acrylic pen. Wish I had read the directions.....melted the tip because I used to much pressure for too long. Once I realized my mistake and read the directions best to use wet I started to get awesome results. I've also used these on a few wood pens wet and once I got through to the 12000 grit, I already had an impressive sheen on the wood. Just wash them out after before using and you should get a lot of use from them. I'll definitely but more when these wear out!

They can bring wood to a gloss finish before any type of varnish is added. They bring out the beauty of wood grain to it's highest form of perfection. Once you try them, you will always have them on hand.

I am now just buying my second set (could not beat the price) after 2 years of pretty heavy use. If used right you can see yourself in the product when done. Thumbs up all the way on these little gems.

5) Submitted by Ruth Archambault, from Albuquerque, NM on 12/4/2007 The product itself is excellent--achieves Great results--almost a mirror finish. However, I was expecting (from the description) SOFT PADS with a micro-mesh surface. Instead, these 3"x4" pieces were flat with a type of cloth backing, with a single thick pad added to the order to manually wrap them around. The micro-mesh pieces themselves were NOT PADS. So the description was a bit misleading, in my opinion. I am still happy with the product.

I just can't confirm either .. plus I found that it burn easily when sanding edges .. so be careful .. I do think the idea is workable and I'm looking forward to trying the sheets that I tried to clean.
