I received Item 29137 20#Basswood Blanks today. I am overwhelmed at the quality of the blanks. My wife saw the blanks and told me to order another 20 # before you go up on the price. It will take me a while to use 20 #s, so I will wait. I do plan to show another carving buddy the quality of the wood. Again thank you so much for the order.

I am still a novice carver but I have a lot of projects in mind to complete by Christmas. The wood I received is in excellent condition with enough different sizes to meet all my needs. If I need some larger pieces the wood is suitable for glue ups.
Compared to other suppliers I researched Rockler's prices can't be beat especially with discounted or free shipping.
I'm excited to get started carving these blanks into finished works.

Have used the hardwood and exotic cutoffs before but this is the first for the basswood. Was more then delighted with the quality and assortment.The material from the art stores is not carving quality, everything I got is usable just need another 20 hours in a day to do all the carving. Thanks for another quality item at a reasonable price.

I'm retired and thought I would try carving. I have been carving diamond willow sticks and canes and enjoy it so thought I would try other types of carving. Not as easy as it looks.

I received my first box of basswood nearly 4 months ago and have carved in the neighborhood of 25-30 pieces from it. When it went on sale this time, I ordered two boxes. The sheer quantity is worth the price. 85% of the pieces were square on all edges. The others had one edge that was either rounded or had bark on it. No big deal as these were the largest in the box. There were large chunks 3x4x7 to 1x6x12's. Many pieces were 2x2,2x3,and 3x3's up to 18 inches long. Also some plank 1x's 2-3 inches wide x 8-18 inches long. Very nice stuff. Most of the pieces are clear, and about 20% may have a small knot or two. This has not been an issue for me at all. I'll never buy wood anywhere else. I went to a huge carving show two weekends ago and the prices were good, but Rockler still has the better deal by far.

Pleasantly suprized at the amount of wood and the large sizes of several of the cuts. I had ordered from another company and the size was very retsrictive on the types of carvings I could do and it cost double what I paid here + free shipping....GREAT!

Just received my 3rd #20 box of Rockler's Basswood! To say the least, I've been VERY pleased with each box - they all contained a good variety of excellent basswood for carving reliefs and in the round. I highly recommend this source for any wood carver!

Completely satisfied!! Shipped really quick! 100% of the Basswood shipped to me is usable! Surpassed my expectations! I received more wood for around $22.00 than I would have gotten than if I went to a supply store 4 miles away from my home! For the price I paid at Rockler I would have gotten only 4-5 pieces of Basswood at my local shop! I received over 25 pieces of wood that I can use for many different projects. Word of caution, if you like to do a lot of relief carving, this package might not be for you. Unless you have a way to break down the pieces.

I bought a box to use for practice woodturning. It has lots of great pieces and all kinds of uses including making jam chucks for turning. I recommend all wood turners pick a box up. You will be surprised how much you will use it.

I was expecting a box of odds ands, and bits and pieces. What I recieved was a box of wood that was in great shape, cut square, and packed to the gills with good quality carving stock. And it smelled like popsicle sticks! That's neither here nor there, but do they make popsicle sticks out of basswood? I highly recommend this product for carving! Great Job Rockler!!

Quite a few pieces in this box. Not all small or odd piece. There are some nice size pieces and no junk as far as I can see. Don't know what I'm going to make yet but there will be a few things to practice my turning with to get my skills up before I start on the higher priced wood blanks. Well worth the small price I paided for this assortment. You must buy this to practice with.

I was not sure what would arrive in the box. Mill-ends, strange sizes that no one wanted perhaps. But that is not the case. Good quality wood and looks like very useful sizes. Will be fun to see what comes out of the raw material.

This wood is no good, I have 2 Mike Shipley knifes, and this wood broke both them. There was not 1 good piece of basswood for whittling. $ thrown down the drain due to tough basswood. The wood was SUPER Hard, Lots of Cracks, Lots of Deep Brown spots. POOR!

I am a beginning carver, and looked for a reasonably priced source to start with for basswood. Not knowing which direction I wished to go in my carving, nor the size I wished to carve, the variety in the dimensions I think will give me some flexibility until I get a feel for what I like or want to carve. There might be better alternatives out there, but this worked for me.
