My first time stripping paint off of anything and I wanted a product that I could use indoors over the winter because, I purchased a vanity that had a couple layers of paint, plus the original dark stain. My goal was to get down to the original wood and then possibly do a danish oil finish.

I read online the choices for low-odor products and this seemed a good fit. I did several tests originally 1, 3 and 10 hour tests. I applied per instructions and waited 1 hour, then tried 3 hours and finally 10 hours before scrapping the product off. The product took off easily the first two layers of paint after 1 hour and removed part of the original stain after waiting 3 hours before attempting to remove.

In both the 1 hour and 3 hour tests, an additional spot application was needed in areas where the wood appeared to have absorbed more of the original stain than in other areas. The 10 hour test occurred because I was out of the house longer than expected, but there was no benefit in leaving the product on longer! however, it did not dry out and was easy to remove.

After removing the original layer of product, clean-up is easy with soap and water, which is a real treat. I gladly recommend this product.

What a great product! I just started my new hobby of refinishing old furniture and dreaded using the paint strippers I was familiar with - the toxic smell and burning if it comes in contact with the skin. It does the same job as the toxic brands with none of these problems. Another bonus -I can now use it indoors thru the winter without hesitation. I highly recommend Soy-Gel.

This product is totally AWESOME! No chemical smell, does not burn your skin, and really, truly, WORKS! It took me only 1/2 hour to strip two cabinet doors, including the hardware that I had painted long ago. I'm still blown away by how well this works. And since we have 3 pets in the house, I don't have to worry about the fumes. Oh, and another bonus, it is biodegradable. I just can't say enough about Soy Gel!

I volunteered at my military club to refinish their shuffleboard table. I had no idea urethane required its own stripper. A little internet work took me to Rockler, whom I had dealt with for years. Soy gel seemed to be the answer, so I ordered it. One quart should deal with 50 square feet and the table was less than that. The urethane turned out to be 1/8 thick in places. Long story short, the soy gel worked really well, but I have had to order another quart since the urethane is so thick. Also, the longer it's left on, the better it works. I came back after 24 hours and found it was still penetrating and easier to remove. Great product, I'll use it again in any similar situation.

Excellent but messy! Okay, so I am an amateur. I am refinishing a very old rocking chair which has been painted 8 times - 8 different colors - no exageration! It has been in my family a long, long time and I guess my ancestors loved to repaint it everytime they redecorated. I put the soy-gel on and left it overnight. It has sort of a fishy aroma but it is wonderful that you do not have to worry about dangerous fumes. The next morning 5 layers of paint scrapped off very easily but it is a gooey mess. I had a hard time getting all of the residue removed with a rag so ended up rinsing it with some detergent and the garden hose - there are lots of tiny and ornate spindles on the arms and back which were difficult. After it dried I applied the soy-gel again and was able to scrape off most of the remaining paint. This time I used a mineral spirit soaked rag to remove the residue and it worked very well. This stuff does a great job lifting old coats of paint. Maybe it is just me but I think that it is sticky and gooey and I was covered in it by the end of the first scraping. I might like using it better on a flat surface but on a rocking chair with lots of ornamentation - I was a mess! I think I had a problem clearing the residue because it was not dry. It remained wet and tacky well past an 18 hour period which is good for paint removal and bad for clean up. Overall it did a much better job without dangerous fumes than any other stripper I have ever used. I would buy it again if I ever get ambitious enough to strip another piece of painted furniture.

Awesome, simply awesome. I used Soy Gel to strip several layers of paint and finish off of a cherry staircase that I am refininshing in a house renovation project. Within minutes of application, it caused the old paint to bubble and was removed with no effort at all. Best of all, no odor!!

Soy Gel is awesome. It started working within minutes and saved me a lot of time, money and sandpaper. I was more than impressed by the results of a cleaned surface ready for a new finish. I usually sand my furniture with my palm sander but the fun of the noise and dust wore off. I read and compared different paint strippers and decided to use Soy Gel on a dresser that needed to be refinished. I was amazed how quickly this product worked- I applied it with a brush and within minutes of applying I saw the paint and varnish start to bubble. I removed the old finish with Soy Gel, a plastic scraper and a stripping pad. The surface cleaned off easily with just water and a damp white rag. It has very low odor and was extremely easy to use. Thanks for a great product. It made my life easier.

I have used several strippers on my trim in my 1908 house for the past 3 years of my life. Even those that claim to remove 20 coats of paint don't work as well as this one. I put it on, covered it with plastic wrap(which it didn't eat through) and came back next day and it went all the way down to the wood. I scraped off several layers and cleaned up the residue with oil soap, water, and toothbrush. Covered my floors, but didn't even have to wear gloves. Smell was slight. My window looks new!

I was initially drawn to this product as it's made from a natural and renewable source and doesn't have the same dangers and cautions as other strippers - the fact that it's safe for use on lead paints too as the gel encapsulates the lead particles is most impressive and the ease of use and performance is amazing!

The gel consistency aids in application and setting on odd shaped pieces, it has a very faint odor, clean up process is simple and it's managed to cut through many old layers of stain, paint, poly as well as glue and adhesives on an old victorian dining room table I'm refinishing and all with a single application allowing to set for a couple hours!

This product is in a class by itself! It worked better by far than any other paint remover, letting me remove paint from the tiniest crevices and details of a door I was restoring. Plus it had zero fumes and did not irritate my skin. I highly recommend it.

Used this product on a 150 year old "Tennessee Jackson Linen Press" that had been painted a putrid beige by someone unappreciative of the beauty of the original finish. The Soy Gel easily removed all the paint and left most of the original finish (probably shellac)and exposes the beautiful cherry wood which is what I wanted. The job was much easier than I anticipated thanks to the Soy Gel.

I have used 2 or 3 different kinds of remover and I don't like the chemicals, smell, cautions etc. So I thought I would try this and it worked better than I expected with very little smell and not all the cuations and etc. I will not beusing the other removers again. I like this stuff.

It did a very good job with my kitchen cabinets - however - the hinges were ruined and I must now replace them. It took the finish off. It also took more of the product that the manufacturer claims is necessary. I needed a gallon for a project that should have taken a quart. However, I tried a lot of products from home centers and Soy Gel was by far a better product.

I used this to take an epoxy off of a cement floor so I could stain it. It worked beyond my expectations. It stayed wet and active for over 24 hours... and when I scraped the floor, you never would've known that it was ever anything but bare.
No smell, claims to be biodegradeable, and works... nice.

Soy Gel worked better than I expected. I used exactly two quarts to strip the 54-year old varnish from the insides of a 12-foot wooden boat. The stripper adhered to vertical surfaces without running, stayed active for hours and was easily scraped away using only old credit cards. I was not able to smell it. I didn't sting my skin. I recommend this product without reservations.

Best paint stripper I've used, no chemical burns, smelly, but not nauseating. I've been applying it the night before and then scraping in the morning and it does all the work for me. I highly recoment for any paint removal, especially for stripping down to a stain grade finish.

I don't know what kind of paint was used to cover the woodwork in the 1900 house I just bought, but it was tough stuff; we tried several of the supposed "toughest" paint removers, and NONE of them did ANYTHING. I was resigned to using a heat gun and scraper, and breathing in all sorts of lead fumes.

The I tried Soy-Gel. Sometimes it takes one application to get all the way to the bare wood, and sometimes it takes three, but the bottom line is: this stuff WORKS. The potential for making a big mess is there, but that's because the old paint is coming off.

I was very pleased with the product. It clings extremely well to vertical surfaces and stays wet a very long time. I used it inside and found it to have a strong odor. It cleans up with water and I will use it again.

I used as the bottle stated and it did NOTHING. I put in on thick, even left it on for 24 hours and still NOTHING, and to clean it up off the floor was a huge project. I used bleach, I used degreaser, I used laundry soap, nothing would get the stickness off. I had to use a floor scrubber with 40 grit and that finally took this off.

We used this product to remove the paint and carpet glue off of the concrete floors in our house. I wanted a product that was non-toxic and low odor. This stuff smells strong!  And, it doesn't go away when you use the Emerge degreaser either. We left the soy gel on overnight to remove the paint and it dried out. So to remove it we had to use wire brushes and scrub it 3 times and rinse 4 times with vinegar water to remove the soy gel!  The floors came clean, but the smell of the soy gel still lingers in our house despite sealing the concrete with 3 layers of concrete seal. 2 weeks has passed and our house still smells of soy gel. Which stinks! It smells like a chemical smell although it is probably non-toxic. I hope with time the smell disappears. I would not recommend this product for cleaning concrete floors.
