I expect that people who are already set up with a spray booth, have high quality spray equipment and a knowledge of consistency, temperatures etc. will not change what they are doing to use this product.
However, for most of the rest of us, this product is the next best thing. I was amazed at the ease with which I was able to achieve a very high quality finish. I probably will use it exclusively from now on.
Good job Minwax.

I have never redone a wooden piece before, but I tried a spray finish after restoring a sewing cabinet and it was a mess. I went to the store and bought this wipe on satin finish and it was great, easy, and even covered the uneven coat of spray on I had applied and could not sand all the way off. I am not sure on paint, but on stain it was great and I would suggest it to anyone.

I build cabinets as a hobby, and have become quite proficient with spray poly. I usually can achieve a super smoothe finish by sanding in between coats. Just for grins, I did my regular spraying and finished up with Wipe-On Gloss, and it added such a rich, hand-polished look to the surface, I was impressed. I think I will ALWAYS finish with Wipe-On, but I think it may be too thin to use alone. I will continue to use spray for at least 2 coats, for a smoother base.

I love this stuff! I think this is the easiest finish I have ever used. I was introduced to it in the August 2005 issue of Fine Woodworking magazine where it received the "best value" and "best overall" ratings among the seventeen wipe on finishes tested. I was especially interested in the fact that it was graded as "excellent" in their water resistance test. This test measured how well it resisted staining when a wet bolt was left on the surface to dry overnight. It is everything I want in a finish. It applies really easily, sands well, doesn't run or leave brush marks, and dries quickly so there are fewer dust specks. There isn't much smell when applying it and clean up is a simple. It isn't as dull looking as Watco Oil so it gives a richer look to the wood grain. I am planning on using this a lot in the future.

I was skeptical to how well this product would work. Now I am sold. It applies easily and leaves a nice level finish. Dries fast enough that dust did not have time to settle on the finish. From now on, when I use poly it will be this product.

This is now my favorite finish, bar none. I have used many other finishes in the past, including other Minwax polyurethanes, but none of them have the ease of use and quality finish that I can get from this product. I have also used other wipe on finishes, like those from General Finishes. I find that the Minwax Wipe On Satin Polyurethane is my favorite. It is easy to apply with either a rag or a foam brush, levels nicely, sands smooth, and builds slowly enough that it leaves a "close to the wood" look and feel.

Easy to apply, no streaking or smearing. Doesn't have quite the gloss I was hoping for, but it did take to a sandstone rock bookend and it enhanced the colors quite a bit. All around a good investment.
