105 Resin

• 105 Resin viscosity is approximately 1000 cP (centipoise) at 72°F (22°C).
• Coverage for “A” resin containers: Porous surfaces: 90–105 sq. ft. (8.5–10m2) Non-porous surfaces: 120–135 sq. ft. (11–12.5 m2)
• Coverage for “B” resin containers: Porous surfaces: 350–430 sq. ft. (32–40 m2) Non-porous surfaces: 462–550 sq. ft. (43–50 m2)

Combined with 205 Fast, 206 Slow and 209 Extra-Slow Hardeners, the cure time of 105 can be fine-tuned and adjusted for a wide range of temperatures. For coating and roller applications, it can be combined with 207 Coating Hardener, which provides excellent thin-film characteristics to flow out and self-level without "fisheyeing." Cures clear to light amber, so you can achieve a natural wood finish when coating with varnish.

205 Fast Hardener

• Pot life at 72°F (22°C) – 9 to 12 minutes.
• Cure to a solid state – 6 to 8 hours.
• Cure to maximum strength – 1 to 4 days.
• Minimum recommended temperature – 40°F (4°C).

206 Slow Hardener

• Pot life at 72°F (22°C) – 20 to 25 minutes.
• Cure to a solid state – 9 to 12 hours.
• Cure to maximum strength – 1 to 4 days.
• Minimum recommended temperature – 60°F (16°C).

209 Extra-Slow Hardener

• Pot life at 72°F (22°C) – 40 to 50 minutes.
• at 95°F (35°C) – 15 to 20 minutes.
• Cure to a solid state at 72°F (22°C) – 20 to 24 hours.
• at 95°F – 6 to 8 hours(35°C).
• Cure to maximum strength at 72°F – 4 to 9 days.
• Minimum recommended temperature – 70°F (21°C).

206 Coating Hardener

• Pot life at 72°F (22°C) – 22 to 27 minutes.
• Cure to a solid state – 9 to 12 hours.
• Cure to maximum strength – 4 to 7 days.
• Minimum recommended temperature – 60°F (16°C).

When combined with 404 High Density Filler (optimum strength) 407 Low Density Filler (optimum volume) or 406 Colloidal Silica Filler (optimum versatility), WEST SYSTEM epoxy will bridge large gaps and voids and can be easily sanded and shaped when cured. It has no strong solvent odor, making it far safer and more pleasant to work with.

Round out your set with the 300 Mini Pump Set, which includes one resin and two hardener pumps calibrated to dispense perfect ratios every time. Pumps mount directly on the resin and hardener containers, eliminating mess, and include extension tubes for various container sizes. NOTE: “A” and “B” sized resin containers correspond with “A” and “B” sized hardener containers. The 300 Mini Pumps can be configured to fit any size.

My daughter wanted a dining table made from rustic hickory. This raised two issues. First, it required a hard surface able to take damage because she wanted the table to be a project area for the kids in addition to a dining table. Second, rustic hickory is full of holes that need to be filled. Both the technical support at Rockler and at West was a great help. There is a white paper on the West web site that deals specifically with using their product on bare wood {105 and 207 to get a clear finish}. Filling the holes was easy once the ones that went clear through the wood were taped on the bottom of the table. Getting a smooth thin surface coat was also easy. Once that was done, I did a final sanding with 220 grit and applied a polyurethane finish over the epoxy. This avoided the shinny surface that would have resulted from the epoxy alone. I had never tried anything like this before and it worked very well – much easier than I had originally thought.
