All the benefits of a high-quality, hard lacquer finish with the ease of a spray can! Behlen Top Coat Lacquer is a highly durable, alcohol and water resistant, high solids nitrocellulose lacquer. Works great for applying a new finish or for spot repairs when rubbing is necessary. For the highest quality results and the smoothest foundation possible, use with Sanding Sealer, which creates a smooth, hard, seal coat and eliminates raised grain. 13 fl. oz.

I have used almost every lacquer-applying them with spray guns, aerosol cans or brushes in an attempt to find the best method of finishing guitars. There is no better product than these Behlen topcoats and sealers. I don't know how much money I've wasted on all these other products. Absolutely the best-nothing else even a distant second place.

I used this on the top of a chessboard I made. I wanted some buildup so I put it on pretty thick. The only runs I had were from the excessive amount of lacquer that I sprayed on. It came out smooth and clear.

Do not waste your money. The spray nozzle is poor, and the finish it left on all surfaces was full of blush. I tried it three times, with two separate cans, with terrible results each time.

I ordered one can of sanding sealer and four cans of the satin gloss for my project.  This is an excellent lacquer. I am very pleased with the way it lays down, and the resulting finish. Even without subsequent high-grit sand-outs, the finish is great. However, there is one thing that keeps me from giving this a higher rating. When a can is first used, the results are great. However, for three of the cans, even after clearing the nozzle as recommended, subsequent uses resulting in "spitting" - blobs of lacquer along with the fine spray. Once this is on the surface, there is nothing to do about it except let it dry and then sand it out. It's a really horrible feeling when you see this happening. I addressed the problem by removing the spray nozzles and soaking them in lacquer thinner between uses. I had no more spitting problems when reusing a can with this approach. Still, I recommend you test spray a piece of cardboard or newsprint before you turn the spray on your project. If you get blobs, you'll save yourself some sanding.

This Behlen Top Coat Lacquer truly is a top-notch product! It was delivered in just a scant few days, which was wonderful as well.
I DO recommend you apply the matching Behlen Sanding Sealer first (one coat is usually all it takes) and just sand to 320 grit before applying the Behlen Lacquer Top Coat. The 7 coats I got from each can for my solid mahogany humidor project went on evenly and smoothly, with no drips or sags (amazing for a duffer like me).
The gloss this product yields when fully cured is excellent. I followed up with light buffing at 800 grit (wet) and it kicked the gloss shine ever higher to give a final "comb yer hair in the mirror" finish. Please follow directions and spray on subsequent coats with 1 hour waiting times between each and then some light 400 grit (dry) sanding before the next coat.
I don't work for these good folks, so believe me when I say Rockler experts are professional and patient with customer questions, and I like that a lot.
