This finish soaks deep into wood pores to provide protection from the inside out. Because it hardens inside the wood, it will never chip, peel or wear away. Made from a unique blend of penetrating oil and varnish that stains, seals and protects in one easy step, it enhances the natural look and feel of the wood, and creates the rich, warm glow of a hand-rubbed finish. Great for furniture, trim, molding or any other bare wood interior surface. Simply wipe on with a brush or cloth. Quart.

  • Use only on dry wood from which all previous coatings have been removed.
  • Flood surface using a brush or cloth, applying additional finish to areas that absorb all of the liquid.
  • Allow to penetrate for 30 minutes.
  • Reapply, allowing an additional 15 minutes of penetration.
  • Wipe surface completely dry.
  • Ready for use in 8-10 hours.
  • If a topcoat such as polyurethane is desired, allow oil to dry 72 hours before applying.
  • Coverage: 100-150 sq. ft. per quart.
  • Clean up with mineral spirits or paint thinner.
  • COMBUSTIBLE! Dispose of all rags according to manufacturer’s instructions.

A fellow woodworker told me about WATCO Danish Oil and all of its benefits. I gave it a shot on my first night stand project with cherry. I was really happy with how easy it was to apply and manage. I applied a total of 4 coats, allowed each to dry with #0000 steel wool in between coats. Really great non-streak, non-blotchy finish. The photo above is the final product. It should also be stated that I applied a coat of satin poly, followed by a light misting of semi-gloss poly spray. I then finished it off with paste wax. I'm new at this game and probably could have gotten away with a less-intensive series of coats after the Danish Oil, but was really pleased with the end result. I would certainly recommend Danish Oil to anyone looking for an easy, mess-free, hassle-free finish.

On this cedar chest I used a mixture of one part natural danish oil, one part tung oil, and one part polyurethane. I applied 2 coats. By adding poly and tung oil it gives it a gloss. I have used this same ratio with cherry danish on cherry wood and walnut danish oil on oak and walnut.

I used this product back in 1970 at my new house. When I left 11 years later my woodwork looked just as good as it did when I put it on. It is great and always looks good. The best is that you don't have to put a finish over it. Just a good paste wax will do if you want.

This has a mellow tone and need not be polyurethaned. Better than a stain and it can be sealed. Already have another customer wanting it also.

I am refinishing an antique vanity. I stripped all the layers of old paint off and went to find some Watco in town here - couldn't find the correct color - there were very few options. Against my better judgement I bought some Minwax and used it. It was just terrible. I hated the finish! I stripped the Minwax and ordered Watco from you - the finish is just beautiful and I am so proud and happy with the results. I will forever be a faithful customer!

I have used the product for years on oak and pine and found the texture and finish to be great final product. I have found that if you apply the natural and then add a color you can lighten the color for the piece. The natural acts as a sealer that prevents to much of the color of a second coat to penetrate to deeply as a result it give a lighter appearance.

"I live in NJ, and wish there was a physical store near where I live. My experience with rockler.com is second to none. Not only are your products first rate, but customer service/product support is exceptional. I've called several times, and never received someone on the other end of the phone who was anything but extremely helpful, patient, and friendly. The biggest compliment I can give is that I TRUST Rockler for all my woodworking needs. The only other store I can say that about is LL Bean. My wood working friends in western NJ love Rockler. Keep on keepin' on - and get a store here in Jersey!!"
