I found the clamps very useful to clamp items with holes for the one end. However I found by threading a 3/8 nut onto the 'L' bolt I could use this clamp for many more projects, especially in tight places where ordinary clamps would not fit. The nut held the clamp in line with it's self and also when extended out the nut provides a prop for the 'L' part of the clamp.

Just received mine and I love them. The ability to adjust the L bolt makes them very flexible for a number of projects. I did find that the L bolts were not bent to 90 degrees, causing the sacrificial fence I was using to be tight at the top and moved away from the saw fence at the bottom. Putting them in a vise and a few taps with the hammer fixed the problem. Not a big problem but something to be aware of.

I use the clamps for fences on my table saw and router table. I had the best luck drilling the holes dead center a bit larger than the hook.
First job is sawing out cedar strips for a boat using a very long fence on my table saw. Works great.

I use this not only to attach an sacrificial auxiliary fence for making dados - but also to make a "short fence" when ripping solid wood stock making that type cut much safer.
It's an excellent product - one has to wonder why it wasn't thought of years ago.
It makes it so simple to attach a sacrificial and/or auxiliary fence than what was once done before this "universal fence clamp" was available - huge cumbersome jigs which were difficult to store and/or time consuming to replace or repair.

I have had these clamps for a few years now, and thought I would do a review after I found out something lately. There are some flaws. First of all, the head on the clamp that is on the fence does not swivel. This makes for a few problems. It marks up the face of the fence, so bad that when I went to use a jig that rode on the fence, it wouldn't ride smoothly till I filed down all the burs. Second of all, tightening it down is a little difficult because of the non-swivel action of the head, and the fact that you have to have the bracket exactly perpendicular to the fence. All in all, I still enjoy this product. I think I will go adhere some felt/cork on the bottom of the head now to protect my fence.

Nicely made and excellent finish. The Bend angle on the clamp pin has been thought our so it tucks in the piece to be clamped to the fixed rail or fence. Good engineering.

I bought one pair to use on the table saw and they worked so well, I purchased a second pair for me miter saw fence. I over torqued one on the miter saw and stripped out the handle for the clamp. What I did to repair would also be a recommendation for the rest of the clamps. I drilled a hole through the tightening handle and the all-thread. I then placed a carter pin through the holes, and I can not put the proper amount of torque on the clamp.

Great clamping aid for quick changes from tablesaw fence to a sacrificial fence in no time. Sure beats driving screw through holes in my fence. I use one for an adjustable stop on my panel cutting sled at the saw and put a pair in my toolbox to keep a set with me for those times when I end up using the other guy's tablesaw. I'm looking to get another set with my next Rockler order!

I have several sets dedicated for my various fences and jigs.
They are TOP QUALITY and perform very well. I have some dedicated to 'specific duty' so they are always available when needed. I have found a couple of tricks for improved performance for my shop. 1 On my dedicated sets, I use Teflon Pipe Tape on the threads to hold the positions of the threaded sections for quicker set-ups! 2 I keep a dedicated 3/8" Doweling Jig, Rockler #35242, handy to quickly add/or change any holes on my jigs/fences! 3 I have added some rubber or plastic pads on the clamp ends when a 'softer touch' is preferred.
I love this item and will be adding more sets in my shop. They are easier to use than C-Clamps for most applications.

Customer Rating:
This is a "good" clamp..........but NOT a great, multi-purpose clamp as it could have been. The Reason: The swivel cap on the end of the threaded rod DOESN'T SWIVEL!!!! Therefore, the clamp has a tendency to "walk" when tightened........and it will mar the compression surface when tightened because it doesn't swivel. While this may not be a problem when used just as a Fence Clamp, it is a problem when used with the "Clamp Square" kit for picture frames, drawer boxes, cabinetry, etc. If the "Swivel" was indeed made to "swivel", as ALL C-Clamps should, this would be a GREAT clamp. It's small, light weight, adjustable reach features allow it to be used easily in tight quarters. It just needs a "swivel".

I am using these clamps on a Shop Fox fence to hold a 3/4" MDF subfence. Keep the threaded part of the "L" shaped bolt as short as possible to prevent the subfence from pulling away at the bottom. It might also be advisable to drill the holes in the subfence at a slight angle so that the clamping force is directed towards the bottom.

"L" Bolts were bent less than 90° causing fence tip out as mentioned by others. Also I can't believe that the pads on the ends of the tighten down bolt don't swivel. This causes the clamps to try and wander when tightening as well as marrs the surface.
Great idea but needs a little tweaking and better quality control.

Great idea, but the second time I put the sacrificial fence on the saw, the knob on one of the clamps broke off in my hand. I'm pretty strong, but not superman!
Better quality would make this a good product. As it is, I'm sure I'm out of whatever warranty window there is, and will either have to buy another set, or try to replace the knob with a shop made one.

I just got these to replace the 2 quick clamps that I have been using.. It was OOOOH so nice to get the clearance back. They work well and hold snug. To save myself a little effort in the future I drilled the mounting holes into a scrap of hardwood. Then I mounted the sacrificial MDF board to that with two 1-1/4" drywall screws so I don't have to redrill my holes later when I hae sufficiently chewed up the sacrificial board. The screws are high of center and closer to the ends so they are out of the normal possible dado working area.

I am Chairman of our Wood Shop committee in the Villages Golf & Country Club in San Jose, CA. We have over 150 key holders who use the shop and the other day I was checking out the shop and noticed that our brand new Powermatic 2000 fence had saw marks on it. Someone move the fence too close to the saw blade. I immediately went to the computer and ordered a set of Universal Fence Clamps. Hopefully it will keep the fence from further damage. We are currently considering a Wall Mounting Dust Collector for our shop.

Very simple solution to a problem of making dado cuts into the edge of 3/4" and 1/2" plywood. My saw fence (Ryobi BT-3000) is great, but less than 3 inches high. I needed something to help me keep the stock vertical.
These clamps did the trick. Drill two holes into the edge of a 2x6, use my Forstner bits to make clearance holes for insertion of the clamps, and "Ta Da" ... easier done than said.
Plus, when dadoing or cutting right next to the fence, it's the 2x6 that the blade may rub against.
Thanks for just what I needed.

I used it right away to clamp the fence end of a long stop block on my table saw. The outboard end of the stop block was easy to clamp to the table. I drilled a hole in the stop block near the fence, dropped in the clamp rod and tightened the screw.

I needed to cut a dado in the bottom edge of an outside door. In order the keep the door vertical on my circular saw, I neede to extend the height of my fence. By using the Universal Fence Clamps I was able to make a 18" high auxillary fence. I cut two 2 1/2" dia holes near the bottom of the fence and drilled the 3/8" dia holes from the bottom into the center of the 2 1/2" holes. The clamp bars fit perfectly and it works great.

Nice clamp but I think if you have a 26" fence or bigger you are going to want to use at least 3 of these just to keep the added fence up tight to the table saw fence. Also glue a piece of felt or some other non-marking material to the clamp, you will dig up your fence if you don't.

Sturdy and nicely finished. I use them to attach a sacrificial fence to the face of my table saw fence. The only problem with them is that the end of the clamp pad is bare metal and could scratch the back side of your fence. I bought some 3/4" silicon self stick pads at Home Depot and stuck one on each of the clamp faces. Now they hold fast and don't mar my powder coated fence.

Great addtion to my shop, like the others said they really get those big bulky clamps off my saw table and out of the way. If there was one improvement that could be made it would be to add a plastic cap over the clamp pad. Something like they have on the bessy tradesman clamps. I have a Powermatic fence and it is the soft plastic, the metal face on the clamp would dig into it if I didn't put blocks between. Other than that they are great.

Ed Barcus said that it was not compatible with the Delta Unifence. I have a Delta Unifence, and it does work with it, with some caveats.
First, it only works when the fence is in the upright position. In that position, the fence's non-blade side vertical falls into a curve as it goes down. So if you have the clamp all the way down on top, it does not clamp well to the curved part of the fence. But if you move the clamp up by 1/4", it clamps fine. Sure, it is not quite as solid as if it was all the way down, but pretty close to the same effect.
If the clamp is a bit low (and just into the curve), you'll find that the clamp is not perfectly level... it slants down towards the blade side. This is actually a good thing, as it causes more tension at the bottom of the rod that goes into your aux fence.
My reason for four stars: the metal feet on the clamp will scratch your fence. After paying big bux for a fence, you don't want to scratch it. Plastic or cork feet would help, and it should have them installed. But you can buy adhesive felt feet at any home store and stick them on.
It is a pity that Rockler calls this a "universal" fence clamp. All fences are different, and it may not fit your fence perfectly or at all. But that's why Rockler has a [90 day]return policy!

Seems like a great idea, problem is if you have a Delta Unisaw fence the fence is not tall enough so the back clamp knob hits the fence carrier this does not allow you to use the clamp on the back side flat part of fence. The front or forward clamp no problem.
Might have been better with a toggle type handle as opposed to the large plastic knob or a longer clamping screw. Meantime I just used a piece of scrap on the backside of fence.

Reasonably well made and certainly usable, but the shaft that needs to be inserted into the sacrificial fence is Metric. 8mm or 0.325"....this is a problem if you want a tight fit. I ended up using a Size "P" drill and that worked okay. I even have a set of metric brad point bits. I've owned them for 10 years and thought I'd finally get to use them. 7, 7.5, 8.5...and I'm not kidding. Why not 5/16? 3/8?

Unfortunately I delayed purchasing these clamps because of some reviews that seemed to question their use with a Delta Uni-fence, the ads always pictured them used on Biesemeyer fence or similar wide format fence. A recent Rockler sale plus free shipping triggered me to give them a try. I am happy to report that they do work, but a note to the designer; another 1/4" in the length of the clamp screw would have made the design perfect. The clamp will close to 1/2" (face to centerline of the pin)so when drilling the stop block you will need to drill the centerline about 1/2" from the stop's back side to accommodate the Uni-fence's 1/8" wall thickness.

These clamps are the real deal for clamping "stuff" to my Ridgid rip fence. "Stuff" is my sacraficial fence, stop blocks, and one version of a fence I made with a high step to attack Kreg featherboards. Every tablesaw regardless of fence type should have this. Easy to use and easy to store. I found that it allows me to have a split fence where the out-feed fence is slightly thinner than the in-feed. I'm not sure what the "5-3/4" capacity" refers to, as these clamps have just over a 3" opening, but my fence is 3" thick and I could not be more pleased with the product. I use them for a sacrificial fence for both saw blades and the router table, as well as for fence stops.

Well worth the $. Makes removing and installing a sacrificial fence or stop block quick and easy with one simple modification. For those complaining about the 5 cent nuts & the rubber/plastic slip on shoes for the metal clamp pads not being supplied should lighten up & go grab a couple nuts from the tray full nuts in your shop & simply use the rubber/plastic protection slip on pads that are on the no longer being used clamps this well designed set of clamps have replaced. Only improve I can see would be to offer a set of 4 clamps for the price of 3 clamps.

The clamps slip off of the fence very easily which can cause the sacrifial fence board to slip. There should be a non-slip surface on the clamp foot to help the clamp stay where it belongs and a smaller than 90 degree bend at the far end to also assist. I would not buy this again without a further improvement. It might work well on very expensive table saws, but is a dismal failure on the job site saws I have.

Excellent product. I purchased two sets, one for my band saw, and one for my table saw. I wished that the throat of the clamp were a little deeper to accommodate wider fence boards but I think I can adapt the clamp to do that for me.

The blue portion throat I will call it is too shallow. I could not get the clamps to work on my fence. I have a Ryobi BT3000 table saw. This product would not work.
Editor's note:
Clamp opens to 5 1/2". Not only do you back out the clamp screw, but also the angle bolt to increase the opening.

This is a great idea but fundamentally flawed. The clamp pad is fixed to the clamping screw! This means the pad scoots around the back side of your fence as you tighten, thus scuffing and scratching the surface. It also makes it hard to tighten the clamp really securely as it is very hard to get the thing to lay perpendicular to the fence. The cheapest C-clamp will have a swiveling pad. The added cost of doing this right couldn't of been more than a few cents.

It is not compatible with Irwin corner clamp. The holes in the clamps are smaller than the L clamp. I was very disappointed to find that this clamp did not fit my Irwin 4 corner clamp.

I think the universal clamp is a great tool.
