Inlace Acrylester #3 Crushed Yellow Pen Blank

Inlace Acrylester is a semi-translucent plastic that exhibits a remarkable irridescent shimmer. It is available in a huge variety of colors, each with a unique pearlescent pattern and amazing visual depth. Acrylester turns much like acrylic and can be polished to a gleaming finish. Each blank measures approximately 5" long x 3/4" square.

1) Submitted by Colin, from Burlington, WA on 12/21/2010 Customer Rating: Unfortunately, this particular material chips VERY easily, even using freshly-sharpened tools I was using a gouge for the rough-in. As long as you go SLOWLY, though, you should be fine. Once I realized how fragile the material was, I used a skew with a slightly concave blade to gradually get the final shape, followed by sanding using 100-200 grit sanding blocks, and finished off using a micro surface sanding kit 6 pads from 1500 to 12,000 grit. Once polished, the material is absolutely beautiful, and seems to glow on its own. Light reflecting off the layers of the "grain" gives a very attractive pearly yellow luster.
