This little brother to the famous WS3000 features a fixed tool port that grinds and hones your chisels and irons to a precise 25° angle every time. Air-cooled port prevents the tool from overheating, and the completely dry system eliminates the mess of water and oil. Sharpens edges up to 1-5/8" wide in the port, and as large as you want on the top of the wheel. Tool rest allows you to easily sharpen axes and other large tools. Includes two double-sided Edge-Vision slotted wheels, which allow you to see the cutting edge while you sharpen. This feature is perfect for tools with curved edges, like carving knives and gouges. Also makes a great low speed multi-purpose shop grinder. Uses common 150mm adhesive-backed abrasives in multiple grits. 1750 RPM wheel speed. 2 year warranty. 12 lbs. WS2000 Abrasive Kit includes a P80 solid disc, P80 slotted discs (2) and P220 slotted discs (4).

I'm finding this WorkSharp WS2000 is an outstanding equipment. Awesome!!! It is a real investment to my workshop. It helps in restoring my sharp tools. It's much greater performance and the way it makes my tools clean, sharpened, allowing me to perform and achieve my work woodworking projects. Many thanks!!!

Best tool purchase I've made in many years. I used to own a commercial furniture and cabinet shop, and used a service for routine sharpening. I had a pile of old chisels and plane irons which thanks to previous employees, had edges I wouldn't even consider trying to rebuild. Too expensive from the service and too time consuming for me. I bought this tool and 3 hours later I had about $1000 worth of razor sharp tools saved from the trash can! Now that's what I call a good investment! Stop reading reviews and buy one, you won't regret it.

This is one of the best buys in my shop!
First of all, this machine is very well designed and built. It is compact, lightweight, has a small footprint and still it is very steady when used. The slotted wheel is genius: you actually see the abrasive contacting the tool, making even hand sharpening and honing by hand quite easy.
I know that work sharp markets the WS3000 for the more "professional" woodworker, but I believe that this machine is perfectly fine for even the most precise job, with the proper set-up: if you want different angles for sharpening chisels you should make some blocks to fit in the slot.
Also, I don't use much the tool rest, but I have built myself a mini table that hugs the machine, where I can rest my plane blades (I already own a jig that holds the blade at the right angle).
Interestingly, I have had great success using abrasives and wheels that are packaged "for WS3000 only), so I can go down to really small grits.
This machine works so well and so fast that I was honestly looking around my shop for more things to sharpen!
The only thing that can't be done with this machine is inside radiuses of gouges.

I just dabble a bit in wood working and had dulled my chisels. I had tried sharpening them on a stone and found out what a long job it was to do a good job. This sharpener had them like new in just a few minutes. Great for a serious wood worker or someone working only occasionally in wood. The instructional video was very helpful in seeing just how to use this tool.

I have had this god-send of a machine for almost 2 years now and for someone like me who does a LOT of wood turning this beats the heck out of stones, hones, and stropes for making my lathe tools ready for the next job (HAHA). A job that used to take me a couple of hours to complete now takes about half-an-hour to finish and that includes set-up and clean-up. Anything that gets me on the lathe and turning faster is top notch in my book. Also if you don't like the set angle just do as I have done with mine, and cut some 5 inch or so blocks out of scrap 2x4 and then cut them to the angle you want (or need) then boom you have another handy angle jig at your disposal. To make this easier I built a "table top" over the top of my WS2000 with a hole the size of the WS2000 top in it and flush to the top so i have a "bench" to place my angle blocks on and now I can grind to any angle I want with ease. All in all a GREAT buy for the buck. I would recommend anyone who spends any time sharpening their tools to make the purchase.

The machine did everything that I was told it would do plus. I sharpened all of my chisels and knives. I would recommend it to anyone.

This thing works well and its fun to use. I learned that for over 30 years I've put the wrong angle on my wood chisels. Thanks to this thing I corrected my whole collection and then looked for other blades to sharpen.

I was sharpening tools in just a few hours after receiving the 2000. I was pleased with the instructional DVD as well as the extra sanding pads. I recommend it.

I bought this to use as a personal tool onboard a ship I work on. Space is at a premium, and I don't have a permanent workbench to mount a grinder. This unit looked perfect, but I was apprehensive. I ordered the WS2000 instead of the WS3000 because couldn't justify the price difference and I wasn't sure it would satisfy my needs. I use it to sharpen chisels and gouges for my midi lathe, and it is a wonderful machine. I have used it to sharpen every knife on the ship. It is quick and easy to use, takes up very little space, is light enough to move around with ease, and does not require a permanent mount. It is exactly what I needed.

Exactly as advertised. Easy to use first time out. I now have sharp chisels with the proper angles for the first time in years. Very good buy for the money.

The system is great for sharpening chisels. I have also used the top for sharpening other things around the shop!

Let me start out by saying I wanted to like the WS2000. I read the reviews here and elsewhere and was sold on the idea that it was going to make sharpening of plane irons and chisels easier. Previously I have practiced the "scary sharp" method of sharping on progressively finer grits of sandpaper utilizing an inexpensive honing guide. My biggest frustration with the honing guide was the poor ability to obtain consistent results. I will say this in the WS2000's favor. It seemed to be a well constructed machine. The fit and finish was very good. I unpacked it, read the manual and spent an afternoon trying it out on various chisels and irons that ranged in condition from good shape to seriously messed up by either my own abuse or that of a previous owner. All told I spent upwards of eight hours over a few days in front of the WS2000 trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I tried various grits, I rewatched the videos on worksharptools.com and youtube. NOTHING I put through the process was even approaching what I would consider acceptably sharp and the backs of every iron and chisel had deep scratches. On day seven I purchased new more sophisticated honing guide for about half of what the WS2000 and Fine Abrasive Kit that I purchased cost and spent a considerable number of hours reworking my previous attempts. In the end I have razor sharp tools, but the WS2000 had nothing to do with it. I wanted to like it, and I think I gave it a fair try. But I cannot recommend it and would not use one if it was given to me for free. I packed it back up and returned it.

I got in December and it's done a real good job on my bench chisels. The price was right too.

I have used it several times to sharpen various items. It works quite well. I would recommend it to the home handyman. If you are a professional, you might want to move up to the other model.

I wish I had gotten the WS3000. I don't like the fact that there is only one angle setting, and only one speed. I bought the finer abrasive kit marked for the WS3000. If you are going to do plane knives and chisels you need the finer abrasives and I emailed the Worksharp company and they said you could run the solid abrasives made for the WS3000 on the WS2000. There are better machines made for sharpening wood lathe tools, ones with 8 inch wheels and jigs. For everything else the Worksharp is fine. I should have done more research.

Love it but...I have used this model and it serves it purpose however even in a small shop the WS3000 will serve you better. I wish I had waited a little and purchased the bigger model.

I haven't had that much chance to use it but I think it's the best sharpener for the money, obviously or I wouldn't have bought one.
