• Unique parallelogram support system allows the table to move in the same arc as the cutterhead when raised or lowered. This uniform, close clearance to the cutting blade acts as a more efficient chip breaker.
  
• Cast-iron assures less vibration; cabinet stand completely encases motor and pulleys to protect from dust and shavings.
  
• Specially-designed cast-iron fence is extra long for continued support throughout the cut. Fence is center-mounted and functions as a rear guard on narrow cuts.

1) Submitted by Mike, from Bismarck, IL on 6/22/2011 Customer Rating: I had owned and used this machine for over 15 years. I sold out when I moved, and recently relocated. I purchased a new DJ-20 for my new shop. My unit was perfect right out of the box. I went over it with a Starrett straight edge and machinist quality squares. I found the instruction book helpful and assembly was a piece of cake. The proof was in the "puddin" when I put this machine to work on building a large quarter saw white oak Mission style dresser. I purchased my machine from my local Rockler dealer and was pleased with the service.

2) Submitted by David, from Trelford, AZ on 5/28/2008 Customer Rating: The unit has good capacity and mostly quality components. It can flatten a 5 foot by 8" board without tipping off the surface. And it can give you a smooth surface for edge gluing, but it can't do any of that out of the box. I had to do a complete set up and tune up once my unit was unpacked. I was given no reason in the instructions why they provided three pulley wheels. My fence was warped approx. 12 to 15 thousands so it's difficult to get a square edge. There were no instructions included about how to tune up the machine beyond just the basic principles. I had to reset and/or adjust the cutter head, the front (or infeed)table, it wasn't parallel to the cutter head, the outfeed table was way out of alignment, adjusting the proper height was one thing but it was twisted and sloped at the same time. The knifes were not even parallel to their own cutterhead.After following the instructions to the letter I fould that the rear fence was pushing down on the outfeed table and causing it to drop no matter how tight I firmed up the locking knob. It also drags across the outfeed table leaving a scratch. I finally ended up using a file and removing some excess material. When I tighten the rear fence it always moves so I have to accomodate for this and make it not square so it will be square when it is tightened. For this kind of money I shouldnt have to modify and rework parts to get it to do it's job. The quality of this company has gone so far down hill I don't think they will recover. Maybe these should be built here in the States so we can keep an I on quality control and give loyal customers their moneys worth again like we did in the past. Oh yea, one more thing, I tried calling Delta's customer service for help. I was on hold for a few minutes short of eternity. I called back twice and was treated very rude. Can the people at Delta actually believe they did me a favor by taking my money? Next time I'm going to look very closely and probably buy another competitive brand.
