A simple, inexpensive concealed hinge for inset doors. Just drill a hole and press the bushing in place; the hinge pin pivots in the bushing. With no mortising required, installation is easy. The plate simply mounts to the surface of the door. Slots in plate allow side-to-side adjustability. Steel hinge with plastic bushing.

The Simplex Concealed Hinge exactly matched those on a stereo tower cabinet I already had. I was building a flatscreen TV stand with media cabinet underneath and wanted inset doors and hardware to match those on the stereo cabinet. These worked perfectly. Service was fast and the price was right.

Neat and simple project. I anticipate no problem with the screws. Pilot holes, anyone? The installation information describes only the hinge, little about clearances.

The Simplex Concealed Hinge was very easy for me to install.It is an excellent product. I found a media cabinet with broken hinges a yard sale. It now has a new life as a valued kitchen pantry in our home,thanks to you at Rockler. Rockler is the only hardware company I found that stocks the Simplex Concealed Hinge.Even the local so called big box hardware stores do not stock that hinge. Thanks again, Rockler!

The Simplex Concealed Hinge item 30361 itself is fine, but the info provided regarding the use of an 11/32" bit to drill the required holes is inaccurate. While correct in subbing an 11/32" bit for the 8.5 mm bit they say is required, the hinge inserts I received measured 8.88-8.94 mm in outside diameter and would not even start in the hole drilled with the 11/32" bit item 22584. It appears that a 9 mm bit item 23508 should be recommended in this case.

The hinge itself is good. The included screws are terrible. Two of the eight I used had their heads twist off while driving and a couple others didn't make it through test fitting. Grab a bag of better screws before you ruin your work piece. Throw the original screws somewhere.

Editor's note:
When installing screws we make the following recommendations:
a) Be sure to drill a pilot hole matching the screw. When drilling pilot holes be aware that hardwoods may need extra care to make sure pilot holes are thoroughly cleared.
b) Always use a screw lube when installing hardware of any kind, this it especially critical when installing screws in hardwoods.
c) Be careful if using a power driver that your drill's torque is set for driving screws rather than drilling. Using a power drill to install screws can easily turn them too quick and overtorque them. If in doubt, install with a hand driver rather than a drill.
