The classic American blonde, Hard Maple features creamy white sapwood with a reddish cast, and rugged durability. The wood has an exceptionally fine, even texture, and tight pores that yield an excellent finished surface. These thin boards are machined S4S to 1/8" and 1/4" thicknesses, eliminating wear and tear on your planer. You won’t have to worry about chipout, which is difficult to prevent when planing thin stock. Thin boards are ideal for edging, veneering, inlay, marquetry, sides for decorative boxes, bending stock, bent laminations and whatever else your imagination can dream up!

Received my maple today in the post. It was well packed and of the highest quality. Very pleased with it. It will be used in some Christmas gifts. Thank you Rockler! !

Good quality, only issue I have is with planing "chatter" on some pieces that still remained after light sanding prior to application of tung oil.

Disappointing quality at a premium price. I ordered S4S and S2S lumber. Little regard was paid to packaging, the boards were left to rattle around along with a can of stain in a box much too big during shipment. The corner of the box ripped during shipment too. The result was a large number of dings and overall poor condition.
Customer service was friendly and helpful, and shipped a replacement order at no cost. The replacement order was definitely better but still not great. All the boards have areas of pits or indentations on the surface, I think this is what the earlier reviewer referred to as "chatter". They look like they have been struck with a bag of coins in certain areas. To get rid of these marks, I will have to do a lot more sanding than I wanted to.
The end result is that with backorder and replacements, it has taken me almost a month to get wood that is of disappointing quality. I am sure Rockler would take it back for a refund if I asked, they do have great customer service, but at this point I just want to start my project.

Boards were a little cupped but overall they were not bad. I would purchase from Rockler again. Shipping was fast and accurate.
