Prized for its rich, crimson color and excellent durability, Padauk is an excellent hardwood for cabinetry and fine furniture. Reddish orange when freshly cut, it matures over time to a bright red with darker red and purple streaks. It is hard, heavy and extremely resistant to rot, and makes one of the most durable hardwood floors available. It is easily worked, takes an excellent finish and polishes beautifully. All boards are machined S4S to 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" thicknesses. Thin boards are well-suited for edging, veneering, marquetry, sides for decorative boxes, bending stock and bent laminations, while the thicker boards are ideal for furniture, paneling, cabinet doors, mouldings, drawer sides, fine jewelry boxes and whatever else your imagination can dream up!

Beautiful wood. Amazing color, nice gran, very straight, and mostly knot-free. This will make a beautiful looking, feeling, and sounding guitar neck!

The piece that I bought had very nice grain figure. The edges were all square but the board was slightly twisted, however, the high humidity here in Florida might be the cause of that.

I make wood models of mechanical devices and often use padauk and purple heartwood from Rockler to add color to my models. The red padauk and the purple of purple heartwood always spice up the visual side of my models. In this model, the red toothed gear is padauk and the lever is purple heartwood.

I ordered 1/4" Paduak. I haven't used it yet (I plan on boxes and possibly knife handles) but it's true to size, nicely finished, and REALLY beautiful wood. No complaints.

The board of Padauk I received was perfectly straight and flat on all sides. Unfortunately, it was shipped “naked” with other items resulting in a rather large gouge on the surface. This could have been prevented with a simple cardboard sleeve or use of bubble wrap. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful piece of wood! I built a Honduras Mahogany box with Padauk lid insert and slip feathers.

Beautiful. Not a single flaw. I wish I had bought more just to have on hand for later.

I used 1/8" African Padauk and Purple Heart for a table top inlay project and am very pleased with the color and quality of the wood.
