Once regarded by French Kings as the “crème de la crème” of furniture woods, Kingwood is now most highly prized for its turning characteristics. It has a characteristic dark violet brown tone with varied stripes of purple, and develops a warm patina as it ages. It is very hard and heavy, has a naturally bright luster, fine texture, and polishes to a glistening sheen.
