Argentine Osage Orange is much larger and of higher quality than American Osage Orange. It has a rich, yellow tone, and is extremely stable, durable, and strong. It is an ideal wood for turnery, as it machines and polishes easily. These turning blanks are available in an assortment of sizes for bowls, platters, carvings, bottle stoppers, chess pieces, tool handles, table legs, spindles, finials, candlesticks and whatever else your imagination can conjure up!

Very nice color and it is easy to work with. Sands well and accepts a finish super.

The osage has a little different color than American osage does but its nice. I was told it was kiln dried but when I tested the blocks I got with my moisture meter, 2 of 4 came out to 28% moisture and the other two were 24% and 21%, just a heads up.

2X2X24" turning blank totally wet with moisture content of over 19% and not suitable for turning for perhaps a year if it does not crack in the meantime during a slow drying process. I expected to use it now not a year from now.

The piece of Osage Orange that I got was excellent. This was the first time I had seen it or worked with it. It turned really nice and had nice color to it. I split some pen blanks out of it and they made nice pens. After a couple of them had dried before turning they were pretty hard but still turned well. I also turned some bottle stoppers out of it that look pretty good. This is a wood that I will work with some more. I don't know if what I had was supposed to be dried or not but when turning it I could feel the wet in the chips coming off of it. I did have to watch it when finish sanding. If it got a little warm it would start to pull the abrasive off of the micro mesh.

Very poor if you are looking for a quick turn-around turning. Wood must be very wet! Checked badly on all corners once exposed to air after removing wax. Ruined my work! Hairline cracks all over edges.

People complaining about the parts being green need to stop whining! It doesn't specifically say, so you assume it is green (meaning very wet), or you email customer service like I did and ask! All exotic woods are green/wet! And on top of that being a wood turner you should know that you don't just take a green piece of wood, remove the wax, go to town carving it, and leave it to air dry - that is how checking happens! It is in wax for a reason!
