This premium solid carbide bit cuts dadoes with crisp, clean edges on both sides of the dado. The downward spiral forces the chips down into the groove, eliminating the tendency for wood fibers to chip out the face. Also works great for cutouts and edgework. 1/2'' shank.

Application: Grooves and dadoes in single-sided veneers and laminates.

Freud down spiral bit is the best bit I have found for our application.
Rockler's service and delivery is unsurpassed.

I recently purchased two 3/8 down spiral bits to go with my Rockler box joint jig. I was cutting box joints on 1/2 oak 12" wide. After hours of trying to get the joints to fit, it switched to the 3/8 bit that came with the jig and had no problem. The Freud bit was measured by a machinist and was found to be smaller than stated. The bits do not work with the jig.

Used this router bit in combination with a Dado Whiz dado cutting fixture to make four of the most perfect, most expensive dados that I have ever made before it broke. The cuts were 28 inches long in new plywood and came out perfectly in size and were splinter free on the face of the plywood - perfect - as long as it lasted. I figure that each cut cost about $12. I have no idea what may have happened to cause this bit to shatter but it did. I know that carbide bits won't take any abuse but this one didn't have any believe me.
