For a limited time, purchase a Tormek T-7 and receive a FREE #60533 Knife Jig (SVM-45) and a FREE #47119 Tormek Small Knife Sharpening Jig (SVM-00). Total $70 Value!
Tormek’s new T-7 pairs an already widely acclaimed sharpening system with two new innovations for enhanced accuracy, convenience and versatility. With the new Square Edge Jig, your blades will be automatically squared to the grinding wheel without the need for picky adjustments. Since chisels and plane blades are mounted with their flat backs against a large, flat reference surface, there is no risk of rocking or tipping once the jig is tightened down. The T-7 also includes the new Truing and Dressing Tool, which uses a diamond cutter to return worn, out-of-round wheels to like-new condition. Precision screw feed allows you to grade the wheel for a fine or coarse grade by simply varying the rate of feed. Plus, the standard system now includes the SP-650 Stone Grader. Simply press it onto the wheel to grade the wheel up to 1000 grit and flip it over to return the wheel to coarse grinding.

Wet stone grinding with a slow running speed gives you full control while grinding. The wheel will not shatter, and there are no dangerous sparks. The quiet vibration-free industrial motor is rated for continuous operation, and the honing wheel has a coupling for fast removal.
With the Tormek System, you do BOTH the initial grinding (when you shape the tool and create the optimal edge angle) and the sharpening on the same grindstone. The grindstone can easily be changed from fast grinding to fine sharpening. Because the grinding and sharpening utilize water cooling, there is no risk of burning the edge and drawing the hardening from the steel. The honing and polishing is carried out on a leather honing wheel.
Features:
- Square Edge Jig accepts blades up to 76mm or 3" in width.
- Square Edge Jig features safety stops, which prevent the tool from slipping off the stone.
- Truing and Dressing Tool with screw feed: Trues the grindstone exactly round and flat. Guided by the Universal Support, which also guides the jigs. Dual knobs for smooth feed across the stone.
- Stainless steel hardware: Prevents rust and wear on bearings.
- Universal Support with acme thread: Round section without flat machining makes it faster to change position.
- Improved Horizontal Base: Double locking screws and tighter fit for maximum precision.
- Micro Adjust with scale: For a predetermined cutting depth when using the TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool.
- 7-year warranty applies to all customers, including industrial users.
The T-7 model includes:
- Square Edge Jig
- Truing and Dressing Tool
- Stone Grader
- AngleMaster
- Honing Compound

- Tormek DVD

I bought the TORMEK T-7 for my Christmas present so I could sharpen my lathe tools. I had so much fun I sharpened all my chisels and finally my jointer knives. I started looking for things to sharpen. I even called my friend and told him I wanted to sharpen his carving tools. I heartily concur what everyone else said. It may be a little expensive but you won't regret buying it. My tools have never been sharper. I do recommend buying the turntable you will get tired of picking it up and turning it around.

I'll just add to the already glowing reviews on the Tormek T-7. Originally, I was going to purchase a Worksharp 3000. I'm sure it's a good product, but after doing more research, I decided on a Tormek T-3. Doing more research, the T-7 offered a stone grader and diamond dressing tool which you will eventually need as your stone becomes out of round. I've now owned the T-7 for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it. Yes, it's pricey, but I saved up for it and I think you would be wise to save your money on stones, sandpaper, etcetera and just purchase the T-7. I also purchased the hand tool kit since I am a cook and now sharpen all my knives on the Tormek. All I can say is WOW! My hand chisels are super sharp and I can literally cut paper with them. My knives have never been sharper. I have a bench plane from Home Depot and I now know what it can do because it is sharp. I don't like messing with stones or diamond files. The Tormek T-7 makes sharpening all your tools easy and scary sharp. I love my Tormek!

I have only owned this machine about a month but I have sharpened all of my woodworking chisels and it is a great system. The chisels are razor sharp and much safer to work with. The quality of the T-7 is superb and the service from Rockler is better than any other on-line vendor I have dealt with. Keep it up Rockler; offering the best tools and the best service.

I just received the Tormek 7 and after unpacking it I knew I had purchased one of the finest sharpening systems on the market. Talk about heavy duty!!!!! After I looked around my shop for tools I will use it on, I discovered that it will pay for itself in two rounds of sharpening my blades/knives/irons. I can't wait to put it into action this weekend. Rockler was very timely in getting it to me. Thanks Rockler!

I bought the model 2006 about ten years ago, and let me tell you, as a self-confessed tool snob, this is one of those tools for which there is still no real competition. Truly the Rolls Royce of sharpening systems for the woodshop.
I do a bit of everything in woodworking, from turning to carving to cabinets, furniture and hand tools, and the first thing I learned after "never cut toward yourself" was "if it's not a mirror, it's not sharp." Sharp tools are everything in woodworking, and the Tormek system sharpens everything (except carbide, and one or two oddball carving tools), which makes life in the shop safer and much more fun.
The main advantages to this system are
1) Water Cooled: no chance of burning the steel and losing the temper.
2) Built rock-solid for accuracy: the machine is built like a tank, and all the jigs ensure that every time you grind, you grind the same exact bevel you ground last time. This means quicker sharpening with less metal removed, thus your tools will last longer.
3) Built-in polishing wheel: this tool takes you from rough grinding right through to polishing the burr away, all while controlled by the grinding jig for accuracy.
4) Low speed wheel with dual grinding positions: you can control how aggressive the grinding is, either for faster material removal, or for better control on difficult-to-sharpen tools like carvers' V-tools.
5) Built to last: I've had mine for ten years, and have ground 1.5" off the wheel, but it still looks and runs like new. Rust is not an issue, as long as the machine gets just a little care and maintenance. The jigs are machined from aluminum, so they can't rust or ding your tools. The bearings and drive system are dirt simple, but very effective, so they don't break down.
All in all, given the variety of tools I have to sharpen, I recommend the Tormek to anyone who is serious about woodworking as both the best tool and the best value on the market today. IMHO, the Jet misses on accuracy and quality of construction, the Tormek T-3 misses on being solidly built and on the running time of the motor (30 min on, 30 min off), and no one else has really come close.

In thirty-plus years of wood carving, I have searched in vain for a sharpening system that would take the "luck" factor out of developing a uniform sharp edge on a gouge or knife with minimum removal of material.
From the very start, I was able to achieve the desired results with the Tormek T-7 sharpening system. This system makes the sparpening experience very enjoyable.
