The plans are an excellent basis from which to finalize and build or to extend and get creative. Pictures, measurements and templates work well together to provide a complete understanding of what is required and what the final product can or will be. As always one needs to be aware that the piece will probably not remain in the shop and will usually need to be transported to a final destination and re-assembled.

Have serious doubt as to the design. I think it will need to be redesigned so it can be disassembled and moved. It will give me some skill as a designed on the plus side.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through building this crib. Thanks to the other reviews I modified the dimension so the matters would fit correctly.
I also used biscuits instead of dowels where I could and pocket holes for the base face frame.
I'm also using mortise and tenon for the crib slats.
Overall this is a good plan but needs some modifications to make it excellent.

I built the dresser/ changing table only according to plan. The problem I have is the dimensions of the changing table are too short for standard available changing table pads, the shortest I've found is 30 inches. The plans call for 27 1/2 inches part J. Unfortunately, I found this out after building the unit and looking for a pad to fit. To correct this, plans would have to reflect all widths to be 2 1/2 inches wider.

The plans were pretty terrible. Explanations lacked critical information and many of the measurements did not add up to what they should have. The steps could have been ordered much better. The materials list was also incorrect. I ended up with a beautiful crib for my daughter, but only after many many expletives. If you are prepared to be creative, patient, and check the designer's math, then go for it.

First of all, the blueprints and instructions for the crib tell you to build the whole thing at once, which includes gluing and screwing the whole piece together. Well, look at the dimensions and you will realize that the crib is so big when all put together that it won't fit through your average sized door. So essentially you would build it in your shop and then not be able to get it into your nursery or baby's room. Also, when you build the crib to the dimensions specified it leaves a space for the baby's mattress that is larger than 52 x 28. The standard baby's mattress is 52 x 28 and anything smaller or larger than that costs a substantial amount of money, some upwards of $300 - $400. This means that one would essentially spend more money on the mattress that goes in the crib than the crib itself. Unless one plans ahead and has the ability to alter the plans themselves, as I have had to do, then they will be left turning their shop into a nursery as they have a crib that they can't get out the door. Also they will have to sell some of their machines just so they can buy the matress for the crib since it has to be custom made.
I altered the plans so that the crib is made in five separate pieces and can be broken down and put together as you need. Also, once your child reaches the age of leaving the crib for a bed, you simply breakdown the crib to the base and all that needs to be done is put a mattress on the base for a bed. If you have another child, simply build another base and now you are good to go. It saves money and is more effecient. I can honestly say that I was upset with the blueprints, a novice woodworker would have had a very difficult time building this piece, only to find that they couldn't even get the piece out of their shop. I am a very experienced wood worker and I had to change a lot just to make the whole thing sensible, and affordable with mattress included.
